it may have had only 419hp and a paltry 290lbs of tq but it put that to much better use than my 550hp gt500 did. again, just experiences from someone whos' had both. truth be told for 56k base price; the transmission was almost worth it alone. //edit side note, then you don't consider the current vette a performance car either? |

2.76 does seem pretty wimpy for the 'performance' option. 3.42 is just over the top for a street car IMHO (not to mention it'll probably cost you a tenth in ET from having to go to 4th by the time you hit the trap versus maxing out in 3rd with a taller ratio). Never ridden in or driven 3.15s.

3.42 for the M6, on the GS. C7 will be the same gearing as the GS along with the same 3.42 rear end. Just add a very tall 0.46 overdrive in there for 7th gear.

I read this earlier online and is a good brief summary...
According to Chevy’s order guide for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, three trims will be offered to customers, namely 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. Some of the special options customers can add include Competition Sport bucket seats, which comes as an option for all three trims, Color Combination Override, which allows buyers to “override” preexisting limitations on interior, exterior and convertible top color choices and Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a Z51 exclusive option for vehicle stability control. The default transmission will be a seven-speed manual, with a six-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission available as an option. The latter transmission would change axle ratios on both base and Z51 versions of the Stingray coupe. In addition, the order guide doesn’t contain any information on pricing. This, however, should be rectified on April 25, as Chevy may be announcing pricing details at the National Corvette Museum’s yearly “Bash.” |

If they didn't make first gear lower than they have done nothing IMO. That 2.66 with a 3.42 is too tall. The .50 current is plenty tall.

Been reading up on the personalized plaques. They're pretty cool.
