Any chance you can post the rendering? They could always make it a two seat, mid engine car haha.

I have wondered that also

WHY CAN'T they use that Solstice/Sky chassis, or just re-release a Solstice type of car.

To me GM is mainly WORRIED that it would take away Camaro sales. To me this is the EXACT reason we have not seen a small car like this anymore.

Also something tells me at this point, they would want to start "from scratch" if they truly plan to build a smaller RWD car so they can optimize any new tech/designs that are the most up to date.

FenwickHockey might be able to provide some clarity on this one but I believe it might have something to do with franchise law. That is why Chevrolet SS has been so long coming.

I'm eager to hear Fen's response.

For the part of what I'm aware of...the biggest reason they can't/won't reuse the Kappa platform has to do with the fact that it's inherently expensive to produce, and wasn't what anyone could consider a "remarkable" car...fun, and exciting additions to the now defunct brands, as they were.

If they re-released another roadster...I think they'd almost have to start from scratch to make it worthy of the "new" GM.

You can't rebadge a discontinued product as a new product and sell it without major changes. That's why we couldn't get the G8 as a Chevrolet right after Pontiac died.

There's some obscure law against it. We had to dig pretty deep to figure it out.

Oh, and because the Kappa platform was ridiculously expensive to build and GM ended up losing money on every Solstice/Sky sold.

Doesn't anyone ever look at obscure laws and find out if they no longer apply and get them changed?

I mean if people can attack our highest laws constantly, can't someone work on overturning some of the less sensible ones first?

(Not that I think continued production of the Kappa was a good idea, but the G8 should have been a no brainer)

This sounds promising a nice RWD fun to drive small coupe would be nice for more economical fun performance daily driver. Usually the slower cars are really fun to drive cause u can basically drive the snot out of them without breaking the law so quick. I am kinda diggin the Fiat 500 abarth it sounds so mean and looks so fun to drive aswell.

they need to use the fox body formula (small + Light + decent look+ accept V8 engine = winner)

But if they wouldn't shrink the smallest Alpha significantly to go there...I don't understand why they couldn't just position the base-model 6th-gen Camaro against those cars.

Bringing to life a second, similarly-sized car seems like old-GM cannibalism to me.
