Plus, when you consider the CAD image of the LT4 blown motor that has been circulating for a while now, as well as the resurrection of the "L88" nameplate (possible for the ZR1), it very much looks like the Z06 will have a blown motor.

OR, another possibility is that you'll have a choice of engine. For example, you can have a base model Z06 with an n/a 427 version of the LT1 (LT7) for around $85k, or have the choice of a blown LT4 for $90K. Every indication, however, especially from what I've seen on numerous forums, is that the car will have an LT4 and cost upwards of $90K. I mean we already know this car has cup tires, and is likely to have ceramic brakes. Therefore, it is very much a track car. It will also be $$$$$$

I think it can be debated about the ZL1 and the ZR1 being "Track Cars" while they are excellent performers on the track their forte (at least to me) is to be more of a "All Around Performer" and maybe even a "Supercar" especially in the case of the ZR1.

I mean seriously what are the odds of seeing a 70 y/o driving a Z/28 or ZO6/7? I've seen this with both ZL1's and ZR1's.

The rest of your statements I bow to your info. You seem better informed than me.

Chevy really needs to surpass the top dog Mustang that pumps out more HP than the top C6 Corvette. That is unacceptable.

The new C7 can get by on looks alone this model year (2014), but with a refreshed Mustang with top HP at $30k less if not more, it ain't gonna make Chevy the top domestic performance brand that they should be striving for.

HP is one thing, but these are designed to be road race cars, not drag strip heroes. A mustang could never compete with a corvette on road course even if it had 100hp more and IRS.

Chevy announced the c7 will have a z06 variant, and it will be revealed at the Detroit Auto Show along with the z/28 and Chevy SS.

I never thought it was anyways. That would be silly to me. ZO6 is a RPO code that was brought in to the line up early 2000s.
...maybe in 20 years they can do a ZO7 cuz things do change.

For the record, I'm REALLY hoping for two things: 1). That it has an N/A engine just because I prefer them to FI. Even though from what I've seem that might not be the case. I hope I'm wrong there. And 2) that this thing doesn't cost in excess of $90k. So far I've seen that both an FI motor and that high of a price tag a real possibility. I hope the rumors are wrong in both instances because I really want this car and $90k is definitely out of my league. If that's the case I'll have to settle for the Z51, which I view as the C7 version of the 1LE lol.

Whoa, not correct. The Z06 moniker has been around since the C2 (1963).

If anything, "ZO6" was resurrected.

All around performance brand is one thing.

Having the king of the hill is another.

It's going to take Ford a different car to touch the ZR1 from last generation. I can see with some weight loss, a well balanced rear, nice tires, and gobs of power, that the new SVT variant of the Mustang could surpass the track prowess of a C6 Z06 but even that is going to take a lot.

Getting any Mustang to match the ZR1 in handling OR straight line performance is going to be tough to do for under a gazillion dollars (figuratively speaking).

Another thing would be the forced induction changes the balance of the car. The Z06 with the Z07 package was almost as fast as a ZR1 around a track because it was so well balanced.

Here's an image of a C2 Z06. It's hard not to use a curse word when looking at these <3.
