I've seen a new ('13) ZR1 still for sale on a lot, with dealer asking 111k.
No matter how you compare it, the 2015 Z06 is going to be a better car, at a likely cheaper price.

C7 Z06 all the way if you're comparing supercharged models. As stated, the forthcoming new Z will also be cheaper than the old King of the Hill. Nothing against the C6 gen since they're still quite nice but heck IMO I'd take a Z51 C7 over any C6 variant... it's not just solely about brute power.

I think GM may have done their dealers with left over 2013 ZR1s a disservice by announcing that if you can afford a C6 Z06 you will be able to afford a C7 Z06. Who would buy a ZR1 at $111K when a better handing, higher tech car for less is just around the corner.

If the ZR1 is in your price range a C7 Z06 with the Z07 package for under 90k would be the only way to go IMO.

I'm thinking since there's going to be 3 trim levels to the new Z06 it's price will range from $85/90k to about $120k depending on trim. Remeber, those carbon ceramic brakes are worth and easy 10G's and i'm almost sure Chevy isn't going to make them standard equipment for $90k. So I bet the the Z07 pkg is on par with the C6 ZR1. In '12 and '13 you could push the $106k mark on a fully loaded Z06 so GM has already pushed customer thinking to that level. The new Z is still a steal for the money though.
Can you imagine if it does only cost $90k though??? Last edited by terryg75; 02-16-2014 at 01:24 PM. |

I just did a search in GM GlobalConnect and I found 18 new ZR1's left sitting on lots. It wont show sold order cars that didn't get delivered and I bet there's at least a couple of those too. And only 17 Z06's (most 60th anniversary models).

18 seems like very few. I sure won't be one of the 18 that buys one unless GM will reduce the dealer price where I could pick one up for about $70K. Even so I probably wouldn't be as happy with the car as I would with the new C7 Z06. And definitely wouldn't pay the price for a C6 Z06.

I know our last couple of ZR1's sold for about $25k off sticker and or last 427 vert is close to $20k off or so. Those last 35 big motor cars are going to be extremely hard to move for sure,

Man thanks for all the replies, got a lot of attention.
Yeah i guess a better cheaper model would be way better of course , i was looking at corvettes when the Zr1 2013 came out and i loved it but GM was about to release the new stingray corvette so i waited for that and i hated the look of it and the lack of power it produced but the new corvette c7 2015 the new body kit upgrades and increase in power made an easy choice, but i do like the look of the zr1 still. If i could afford both id get em! |
