Chevy SS?
Anyone cross-shop a Chevrolet SS? Curious as to why you made the choice to go with the Camaro. Styling, newer underpinnings, other?
Thanks. |

I did...I have a 6 foot, 180lb 8th grader and we truck his football buddies...TO ME, the SS is bland, has a serious lack of power for 415hp, and IMHO, it didn't handle well...but the SS had a useable back seat and trunk. I went for Show and Go!

Agreed, I would get a Scat Pack Charger before the SS. More power, better looks, better instrument cluster and better fuel economy. If the SS had the LT1, A8, and same cluster, it would be a serious contender. As it stands it just feels old, bland and not particularly good at anything.

I had a G8 GT. Pretty much the same car, so I didn't cross shop against the Camaro. I did cross shop a Scat Challenger though.

The car is a turd. I'm not even sure why they ever made it tbh.

If it was on the alpha platform (lighter) and had the same engine/trans options I would have cross shopped it.

I still think it's a cool car.

The car is definitely not a turd. The car IMO is a hidden gem. Nobody knows about it and they are really fun cars. They handle unbelievably for what it is and look better in person than they do in the pictures. No where near as aggressive as the Camaro, but they do look better in person. |

My issue with that car is that the styling is too mild. Still looks like a Malibu. Instead of making this car they should of put their efforts into making a SS Impala. The current Impala without a V8 is just wrong!

I cross shopped both. I was trading out of a 2013 Charger RT, so the Scat Pack Charger and SS was on my list among a few others. The Scat Pack was my personal favorite of the two. Felt better driving it than the SS and it looks allot better IMO. I love the rear of the SS but the front is just way too tame and bland for me. Ended up getting the 1SS Camaro because my son said he would be fine in the back seat. It was his decision between the 1SS or the Scat Pack Charger haha. I know they are two completely different animals, but those are what the wife and I narrowed it down to.

If I wanted four doors and performance it would be worth a look if you don't mind it's bland exterior styling.
They are a good car. |

All kidding aside, I even preferred the 15 CA5 SS over the Scat. The Scat has way too much engine and not enough tire so it gets crazy on the road with little effort. The Camaro was designed to put the power to the pavement and it is much more refined than the Dodge. I went with a 15 and a 16 SS now after direct comparisons with the awesome Dodge Scat and SRT8 packages.

You guys are funny.
I guess it's good days when 415 HP is SERIOUSLY low. Also, and I'm hoping for an Alpha based SS replace with the LT1, but it will be a SERIOUSLY smaller car.
