Heads Up Display for Polarized Sunglasses
*sigh*
my favorite part of the camaro 2ss is the heads up display...I had a 98 corvette and was always disappointed that it didn't have the heads up display (wasn't offered in that year)...so I was sooo happy to get one in my 2ss well...I work from 7am to 5-6pm on a regular basis...so the sun is always in my eyes (on the way to work it rises in my eyes..on the way back it sets in my eyes)...so I bought $200 polarized maui Jims, and they dim the heads up display! anyone else have this problem? I can still see the heads up display..its just faint...let me know your thoughts or similar experiences. |

I was bummed when I first found out it was my sunglasses. My sunglasses pretty much make it impossible to see so I don't use it as much as I'd like to.

The same when I wear my Maui Jims as well, quite disturbed at how the HUD dims out when I wear them. Oh well, cant cry over spilled milk. I just keep my speed displayed on the DIC... problem solved.

My Oakley's don't dim the HUD too much, but the HUD does change colors when I tilt my head to the left and right

I have polarized Oakleys, and I can see it fine. It changes to a green color at odd angles though.

I spent some money on cheap sunglasses broke within a few days, then I got some Costa Del Mar ones on my trip to Tennessee. I still have them, and they only have one small scratch (which I can send away and fix for due to the lifetime warranty). The scratch was a direct drop onto a concrete sidewalk from riding my bike.
I do notice I have to turn the HUD all the way up, but I can see it ok. I did notice this morning that the HUD was auto dimming driving under trees and in direct sunlight even though the headlights weren't on.

My oakleysare RX so they ended up being almost $400 - they've lasted 6+ years. To see the display fine, just tilt your head to the left or right and it should be more visible.
