Air Inlet - Is this Normal ?
Brand new 2013 Camaro - LS3.
Is this normal where the inlet to aircleaner box just dead ends and sucks in upper engine heated air ? Owner just bought this 2013 this week and when custom PCM tuning it I noticed IAT 20-40 degrees higher then it should be ( max about 130 deg) and then looking at air filter setup noticed as shown below Why would it have a foam seal around the opening but just sitting open in engine bay ? Thanks |

I forget if it fit flush up against the front of the car. If you look through the front grill, on the right hand side, you'll see a weird piece of black plastic that directs air into the scoop. your scoop may need to be pushed down a little, depending on where the OEM scoop is.
Oh, and I agree with master Litle.

looks like a bigger gap than normal but mine had a gap. the oem intake is great at sucking in heated air and muffling engine noise.

He should really look into a CAI system. There is quite a bit of gain with a simple mod.
