Neighbor over-sprayed fast drying paint on my car... Sorry no pics, need advice

Hey everyone. First off I know you are all going to ask for pics but it wasn't too much and it just so happened to be a very similar color to my car (silver metallic paint on silver ice metallic camaro).

I noticed cause I walked outside and smelled paint and noticed my glossy black stripes looked metallic.. I asked the neighbor and she admitted and apologized. You can't see it on my car paint but you can feel it, feels terrible. This happened probably 4-5 hours before I noticed it and its on there good. I tried a couple quick solutions like quick detailer and clear coat safe scratch remover to no avail.

Basically I am trying to find out what happens next. Its all over my cars paint. I have full insurance including comprehensive insurance and a very low deductible. I want the paint to be as perfect as I had it 5 hours ago :(... Is there something a dealer or body shop could do to make it perfect without repainting the car or is a repaint needed?

Have you tried a clay bar? That will sometimes take off minor overspray. If not, take it to a detailer, and see if they have anything that might help. I had a little overspray on my fender after getting my stripes painted, so I took it back to the painter, and he used a product that had it off in a matter of minutes.

Good luck!

Try a clay bar kit. You can get them at any autoparts store in the detail section. They work great on overspray.

Yep, a clay bar kit will get it off.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I tried mother clay bar kit (had some leftover from last claying) and it took some of it off, but you can still feel it everywhere on the car.... I mean thank God its the same color paint but #$%@ its not coming off :(... I am trying to get a hold of a paint/body shop or detailer but everyone seems to be closed.... I'll keep you all posted on the status...

Seems to me her home owners insurance should be the one covering it. I would take it to a trusted body shop or detailer and see what it needs - and get her insurance agent info.

Sorry that it happened

if she did it, I'd make her pay to get it corrected. if you liker her, are good neighbors and want to help her out then go through your insurance and have her pay the deductible.

Call your insurance company immediately. If there is a claim against your neighbor then they can help you or file it themselves. If you accidentally do something wrong trying to fix it then your insurance may back out on you. Take as many pictures as needed to document every area with damage.

Thanks for all your comments. Still no body/paint shop open... She said she would cover it but I dont know if she would if it is really expensive... I have travelers insurance on my car with comprehensive coverage and a low deductible. If I were to make a comprehensive claim this wont make my rates go up correct?

Go to the detail section lots of great advice in there. I would try everything before a full body paint. Mind i ask what the heck was the neighbor painting?
