The 2018 fell through, but I have purchased a 2017 ZL1 A10 in Hyper Blue, 13,XXX miles, with the carbon fiber hood insert, and PDR. Has some nice upgrades like the 1LE rear wing which I love! Going to the dealership Saturday to pick her up! I am so excited to get behind the wheel of this thing!
Congrats, color looks awesome, and I think the wing looks great!

Grats! Get hold of a Katech pump and make plans to get it replaced as a proactive measure. I wouldn't even bother waiting for signs. The ROI is peace of mind.

This is great advise. My 2018 only has 4000 miles (yes, I know I need to drive it more) and I had a Katech oil pump installed already. Makes me feel better knowing the car is now solid and I won't have any issue on track or cruising around. No sense in waiting for the failure and possible engine damage. Get it done now while it is convenient and time is on your side. It is not a question of if it will fail, it is a question of when.

Congratulations Tony on the 2017 ZL1 purchase. I know you will enjoy the drive and the car. My 2017 has over 26,000 miles and so far the oil pump is surviving but keeping a check on the gauge when driving around and fingers crossed that it doesn’t fail.

Thank you all! I will be starting a build thread eventually to outline progress and what not on the car. This is exciting as it is definitely a dream or bucket list car so we will get up to pick her up early in the morning! Should be a nice drive home as well, but definitely going to keep an eye on the oil pressure during the drive. I have been pricing upgrades and various things to do since I will more than likely be keeping the car for a while, and since I do all of my own work that cuts down on cost! At this point I need the next 18ish hours to fly by so I can go see the car!

Just as a data point, if you start seeing oil pressures below 30 psi, you'll know the pump is on borrowed time, well on its way out, and at that point replacement is very urgent. There is no situation at all when oil pressure should drop below 30, period. The Katech pump recommended by another poster is probably your absolute best choice.

I still remember the first time I pressed the start button on my 2018 and my little LT1 engine roared to life, then I took the first turn leaving the dealership, gave her some gas, and she purred and pulled nice and strong. Driving the car has been sheer joy ever since Good luck tomorrow when you take delivery

That is what I have been reading. The video I got of the cluster while running hot oil pressure read 35-36 psi on the gauge. But obviously something to keep an eye on. I have definitely been eyeing the Katech pump as well! Incredibly cheap insurance if you ask me...

I may only be 34 but I come from building small block and big block Chevrolets where you really need to be concerned if you have oil pressure in the 15 psi range and once it get to 7-10 psi you're going to start hearing lifters. Not only that but some gauges will range in psi depending on where you install the sender. For example on a big block you can install right above the filter which will give you a higher reading or you can install right above the oil pan in any of the many galley plugs and the further away from the pump you get towards the front of the motor you'll see a lower reading. It's interesting to me how there is such a variance in the newer LT4s however.

It's a variable rate pump where the profile changes depending on throttle and some other variables.

Congrats, Tony. Many years of safe driving. I would consider the oil pump swap. Did you get the original rear spoiler in the package? Anyway, the ZL1 spoiler alone is worth 4-5K. We have the color in common.

@LT4Greg, what was your build date? Mine is March 14, 2017

Unfortunately, the original spoiler was not included with the car. I wish it was, but I will need to find one if I ever decide to let her go possibly. Yes we have the color in common and it is really a fantastic color!

The part number for your hyper blue metallic ZL1 spoiler kit (spoiler, hardware and gaskets) is 84224814. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, this is the only one of all 2017 paint colors that was discontinued, even my long gone garnet red color is still available with this spoiler kit.

Your options at this point, if you want a standard ZL1 spoiler as backup, are eBay, junkyards or buying a different color spoiler (part numbers ranging from 84224808 to 84224817) and asking a body shop to refinish it using GM paint color code GD1 (WA388A).

Oh GM and their discontinuing of paints and colors ... GM has all bu discontinued several of there reproduction paints as well, so try restoring any 1960's-70's GM product without the spatter paint for the trunk. In fact no one has it so that has been fun trying to explain to people at work...

I work with plenty of restoration ships so if I ever needed to replace the spoiler or buy the original ZL1 spoiler and have it painted then I can easily do so and have it painted. I will say though I know why GM changed to the camera for the rear view mirror in the antenna in 2019... "a guy can't see nothin'" - Vice Grip Garage I love it and wouldn't change it though!
