Looks very interesting. The second world war fascinated me quite a bit while in high school but then kinda waned through university & most of the time since. But these days I find myself spending quite a bit of my free time either reading a book about WWII, watching documentaries about it, or playing video games based on it.
I'll probably go see it in the next couple of weeks. But speaking of WWII movies ... there's kinda been a bit of a lull in WWII movies lately. Other than Inglorious Basterds & Captain American (which hardly count) ... what has there been in the last few years? Red Tails & that one about reclaiming stolen art? Around the year 2000 there were quite a few memorable (though not always good) WWII movies. Saving Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, Wind Talkers, Enemy At The Gates, U-571 ... but in the last five or so years there hasn't been much.

"Fury" was great. It's not likely for a movie with Brad Pitt killing Nazis to be lousy, but I was a little apprehensive about Shia LaBonkers having such a prominent role. However, Shia delivered. He might be batshit crazy while strolling around West Hollywood, but the dude can still deliver a very worthy performance... as did ALL in this flick.
I did read an interview with Brad Pitt, in which he said that Shia is actually a pretty cool cat, a good guy to work with, and, in Pitt's opinion, a damn fine actor. Pitt has also said that he wanted to make sure that the men who fought in this war were portrayed accurately and respectfully. Pitt seems to hold our military in high regard, something that, in my opinion, can make or break whether or not I like an actor. Pitt damn sure respects our military, and does his best to show the hell that these guys went through. This movie is going into the category of DAMN fine war movies, alongside "Saving Private Ryan," "Platoon," and others. "Fury" was excellent. |

Taken from "Yank", The Army Weekly, December 3, 1944, also unintentionally makes a pretty good review of the movie.....

I saw it this weekend. I am into WW2 so I have seen pretty much everything classic to modern. This a must see for a modern film.

Having been in a combat zone I heard sounds that brought back some memories I won't ever forget. This move and "Saving Private Ryan" gave me chils.

saw it Sunday and wow it was a really good movie. very gruesome but I expected that from a WW2 movie. I thought it was done well and Shia Lawhatever was actually great in it too. really gives you some hints as to how it was back then and what our young men had and still have to go through.
edit: found out that Tiger Tank in the movie was a real tiger from the WW2 era. "It's the first, and very likely the last, film to feature the only remaining fully functional German Tiger tank: Tiger 131."
