Hey, mrray13 I just ordered a new AR 15 in 6.5 Grendel and I should have it next week. I've been wanting another caliber of AR besides 5.56/223 & 22 LR. I ordered a 16" mid length upper with six position collapsible stock. Buddy and I are talking about going hunting in Texas next year. I figure the Grendel will be great for hogs, coyotes, deer and prairie dogs. My son in law has a 24" barrel 6.5 Grendel in an AR 15 which makes a nice accurate rifle but to long and heavy to pack around. 16" 6.5 G only looses about 100 FPS compared to a 20" barrel but handles better for me and is similar to my 5.56 duty rifle. 6.5 Grendel uses the same case as 7.62 X 39 but necked down to 6.5 MM/ .264. These bullets have a high ballistic coefficient and has a flat trajectory with no more wind drift than a 7.62 X 51. 6.5 G uses bullets from 85 grains up to about 140 grains with 123 grain match bullets being some of the more accurate long range rounds.

Alexander Arms makes some great products! I'd love to play with the 6.5 Grendel and the .50 Beauwulf. Let me know how they shoot! I'm thinking I'm going to get back into the, um, arms race, lol.

I had a difficult time deciding between 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel and I guess my Son in Law buying a Grendel pushed me over the edge towards the Grendel. The reason I chose the Grendel over the 6.8 is for longer range target shooting. The 6.8 falls off pretty bad after 3 to 400 yards whereas the Grendel in a 16" barrel is still pretty good out to 600 yards/meters. The longer barrels 6.5 G are good for target work out to 800 to 1000 yards/meters if the shooter is up to the task. Since I reload there isn't a lot of difference in cost of the ammo between 6.8 and 6.5. The 6.5/264 seems to have a wide variety of bullets that can be used in the 6.5 Grendel. Both cartridges are really close in performance and the 6.8 SPC maybe the more reliable feeding round in an AR 15 platform. In a pinch you can fire form 7.62 X 39 brass cases into 6.5 Grendel so there is always another option for brass/ammo in the future. I figure the 7.62 X 39 ammo/brass will be around for about a century. I got a notice from UPS my upper is scheduled to arrive Tuesday so as long as the magazines arrive I'll probably be shooting it next week. I guess time will tell if I made the right choice but I doubt a hog will notice the difference between a 110 grain 6.8/.270 projectile at 2600 FPS and a 120 grain 6.5/.264 projectile at 2500 FPS.

Added a benelli Super Black Eagle to the stable yesterday.

Ditched my old Browning BPS and stepped up.

Haven't shot her yet.

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my 6.5 Grendel AR 15. I like the way it shoots I just need to work up some loads and get some more practice.

I love to see a joint hobby interest in firearms. I am a total gearhead and I love my firearms. Toys are for pleasure.

Added a new one to the safe today, a French MAS36. It's the son's Christmas present, and it's in 7.5x54 French. No pictures yet, it's still at the shop.

Those in southern Illinois, if you haven't already, you need to, check out Hicks Trading Station in Pickneyville, IL. It's worth the trip!! They have as much of my money as I do, lol!!

Here are a couple recent new additions:

Kimber TLE Rail II 1911.

JD machine matching serial upper/lower AR receivers in .308. This is going to be a beast when I'm done building it!

This is my AR after doing a bit of work to it. It's a Smith and Wesson M & P 15. It's got an Aimpoint M4 red dot on a GG&G cantilever mount, Magpul CTR stock, BCM Gunfighter charging handle with a larger latch, and a Milspec drop in rail with covers.
