My Setup

2" Kooks Headers
3" Borla Cat back w/Stype Mufflers

My question is, what kind of fabrication is needed to fit the magnaflow in place of the 2x pipes that come with the borla kit for each bank? Almost seems like by looking at the lenth of the magnaflow and the straight pipes it might be a simple swap?

If anyone has similiar setup let me know. Thanks.. I have the magnaflow in the garage.

Should just be a muffler shop measuring, cutting the pipe out and welding the x-pipe muffler in its place.....getting mine done in 2 days

Borla system is in pieces, not like the stock exhaist.. Shouldnt be anything to cut out.

I know this is old, but your right. This muffler isn’t a true X , it’s a double Y. The inlets and outlets connect in the center to a single 3” pipe. Granted it’s only 2” long before it exists back to dual. I just don’t know if this is a good idea now and if it going to affect flow.

Then again its 3”, bigger then stock pipe and also if there’s no power loss with the crushed stock pipes this should probably be fine.

See pic.

I ordered the Borla 60608 resonator to go in place on the mid pipes. I know they are 2.75" and not 3" but hopefully i can expand them a bit.

I have the Borla 60608 mid pipe going into the Corsa NPP and it sounds amazing. I don't have headers yet but I do have primary cat delete pipes. With the valves closed it's as quiet as the stock NPP but open it screams pretty good. I do believe I can install headers now and the volume levels will be completely tolerable with the valves closed.

I just wanted to update. I got the borla 60608 today and had a local shop for it for me.

Basically the rear section was expanded to the same size as the 3” borla mid pipes which fit right into the rear section. The front section they made a reducer to 3” and welded it onto the resonator and my front pipes after the cats.

The good thing like this is I can still easily remove the back sections as well as the front. The front however will just come off as 1 piece with resonators.

I forgot to get completed pics, and just got the rear part after they expanded it.

Sound is much more mellow and rasp gone/deeper tone is back.

I was going to go this route, I still have the X-Flow muffler sitting in my garage but when we looked at it at the exhaust shop, the clearance was just too tight for my liking. I don't want the exhaust to touch any part of the car or those lines that run right by the muffler.

Instead of doing a double-Y internal muffler, just use Magnaflow 3" by 18" dual resonators. They will fit and achieve the same thing with way more flow.

Setup below is two magnaflow 3" x 18" resonators, corsa sport, catless mids, 2" longtubes. Mild startup, tame cruise, wrath of hades WOT.

No lines touch

However, a little of the transmission support edge was taken out with a grinder to clear the resonator

All other lines comfortably clear, it took 6 hrs from start to finish. Got rid of the catback clamps and everything was tig welded as a single piece

Recently, I did a cam, E85, ARH Long Tubes and catless x-pipe into Corsa NPP axle back. I was shocked at how load it is. The wife was jumping in the house every time I fired it up. I finally figured out to start it in stealth and keep it there until the end of the private street. Once I pull out onto the county road it goes into sport or track and manual shift to give the neighbors that I don't like a good taste of raw conservative horsepower. I live in East San Francisco Bay Area and all those neighbors on the County road are Prius/Tesla snobs. I thought about quieting it down but living in a communist state sucks and this has become very therapeutic for me. If these bitches are out in the front yard by themselves wearing their Covid masks outside with no other human near them, I just stomp the gas and they startle so bad I am laughing all the way to the stop sign..

Catless is really loud, and sounds like crap too. Was awful when I pulled my cats off, so raspy and just not a good tone.

Without resonators maybe/definitely, but with a sufficient # of resonators to tame the rasp its absolutely fantastic sounding.
