Key "fixed"
Hi everyone, so I got my key "fixed". I didn't have a problem until AFTER the fix. The fob would wedge against the key so I had to raise the steering column about an inch and a half. It's not very comfortable to drive. I guess I'll have to carry the fob separate from the key.

Not sure why you took your car in for the fix it's not mandatory I tossed my recall in the trash.

I didn't like the key in the fob. With respect to recalls, I figure better safe than sorry.

It doesn't sound that difficult to unfix your key, I've seen several people say they've cut the new head off of it and put the key back in the fob with a new roll pin.
Or you could just buy a new fob on ebay and have it cut by a locksmith.

Audi/VW and Mazda also have the almost identical key fobs, not sure why the camaro was targeted.
unless you were handcuffed and dragged to the dealer, it is your own fault for participating in this foolish charade!

I brought my car in to have an issue looked at (under warranty)...and they went ahead and did the "recall" to my key, and even wrote in the paperwork that I "requested" it. I didn't. But I also didn't argue when they did it.
I figure, I still have one untouched switchblade key...they'll have to pry that from my cold, dead hands. |

Does the second switchblade key (if not turned in), still work after the recall is performed? I know some brands/models of cars, if you program subsequent keys all exisiting keys must be present or they no longer work.

no, it will still work. Do not need to reprogram anything. They are not "reprogramming" them with a new code. All keys that are programmed to the car will continue to work.
