At 4,500 miles I'm at 16% and that is when I change it. Before that at 4,500 I was at 45%. Same driving, some city some freeway.
Currently using Dexo's.
They must have changed something on the 2012s because mine shows about 54% at 4,000 miles. I usually change mine at 50%.

I will turn over 133,000 today. The chains do not last as long as the engine. Good news, most can do this themselves

I can understand a car that has 100K plus miles on it for the timing chain(s) to be worn out (not that I'm going against the grain there...), but a car with only 14K miles? That sounds like a definite defect to me. I wonder what percentage of low mileage cars have this defect?

Think a design flaw is a more accurate description.... IMHO

Not saying there isn't some sort of a design flaw in the engine, but after talking with some master mechanics of whom I'd consider to be pretty damn knowledgeable....change that oil every 3 - 4,000 miles. Just do it. I always have anyways and plan to keep my car on the same schedule, and hopefully that will be the trick to keeping my engine healthy for a very long time. But hearing it from them makes me feel a bit better.

They said the engine is a great powerplant, but it will gunk up otherwise, which of course increases the risk of other problems.

I'm going with design flaw, along with low oil, as to the cause of this. My engine was clean.

I fear it will need the time chain replaced. I hear that is expensive.

Also, even though you are out of warranty, might want to ask the dealership about a "good will" repair since the timing chain issues is so well known...
Aren't the timing chains covered under the powertrain warranty?!?!

What the hail is going on with these engines?? Sounds like the annoying GM intake gasket failure equivalent.

It sounds like the motor has 100,000 miles on it. I can really hear it not that I put the new exhaust and headers on. I hate going to a car show and everyone asking me why it is ticking. Sorry I just had to get that out of my system...
If its normal, what is it they say is actually ticking?

The blower motor is another problem I have read about. Sorry I screwed up and posted one photo twice instead of the correct one that I left out. But here is my write up. Also, I ordered the blower online and saved over forty dollars than what the dealer wanted for the blower. So you can do it yourself and save an hours labor at the dealer, plus whatever the price they were going to charge you.

How hard is it to change the timing chain yourself?
