Help! Stabilitrak and power steering, tpms problem!

I got new rims and tires on yesterday. I went from 245 to 285/30/20 in the front and 315/35/20 in the rear (275 previously). 5 minutes down the road stabilitrak and my dash lit up. I have no power steering. What i think it is... They put the tpms in opposite tires, I have a rear tpms in the front and all are swapped. I went to Chevy to see if they could re program it but they couldn't. They said it may be broken but it's not because it's still reading the tire pressure.. any thoughts?? I'm going back to the tire shop today to have them put the senors back where they belong.

I would find another dealer. It does'nt matter where the tpms are in your tires they can reprogram it .They do it all the time when rotating tires.Sounds like your dealer is trying to make some money off you .

We tried this and it didn't work, the dealer said it wasn't connecting to the sensor

But what does that have to do with the dash lighting up?

I don't think that front tire is the right size - it is too big a difference from stock and it is causing the stabilitrak to flake out. I think you want 285/35s

One of your tires is low on air. The one that reads 28psi.

Yeah I did that on purpose, doesn't mean anything with the dash lighting up and stability track

Your Stabilitrak issue is because the tires. The height difference is almost 2 inches front to rear with the rears being 1.95" taller than the fronts. Not even close to an acceptable height difference at 7.3%. You're gonna need to replace those front tires with something that will work with the rears. As stated above a 285/35/20 would have been a better choice for the fronts.

Front tires are 26.73" tall while the rear tires are 28.68" tall. From what i've read, I think you can have no more than a 1" difference in the height of the tires for Stabilitrak to work properly. Search Stabilitrak on the forum to check this out.

Are your TPM's stock GM sensors, or did they come with the new tire installation?

If they are GM sensors, then the dealer should be able to 're-learn' them. If they are NOT the original GM sensors, then there 'is' a chance they're not compatible with GM's re-learn tool. In that case, the tire shop installed them, they should be able to re-learn them. After all they sold you the TPMs.

This is not a TPMS issue - the tire size is wrong
