2020 Camaro ZL1 Production Numbers

I emailed the GM Heritage center for this info to find out the rarity of my 2020 ZL1 1LE 6m in Red Hot. This is the response. I hope it's helpful to other owners.

Thank you for contacting the GM Heritage Center.

2020 CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1 – 1730 TOTAL BUILT (1515 COUPE & 215 CONVERTIBLE)

Of those 1730 built, 572 were equipped with the A1Z/1LE performance package.

Of those 1730 built, 239 were equipped with the MJK/Man 6 Speed Trans., 1289 were equipped with the M14/Auto 10 Speed Trans., 202 were equipped with MH3/6 Speed Trans.

Note: Production records are not formatted in such a way to allow us to cross tabulate and see how many of those 1730 were equipped with 1LE and any of the above transmissions.

I hope this information helps you.

ZL1 color breakdown:

G16 ORANGE CRUSH

66

GBA BLACK

495

GJI SHADOW GRAY

117

GJ0 RALLY GREEN

84

GAZ SUMMIT WHITE

316

GKK RIVERSIDE BLUE

184

G7C RED HOT

174

G7E GARNET RED METALLI

67

GKO SHOCK

73

G9K SATIN STEEL

154

Again, we can not break these down to show how many had the 1LE and a certain transmission.

It's interesting that they weren't able to break it down more for you... I believe the MH3 6 speed is tied to the ZLE and the MHJ tied to the ZL1...

So of the 1730 ZL*, 202 were were M6/ZLE....

If there's no bias on the red hot between ZL1/ZLE or M6/A10 compared to overall sales, I suppose you could guess that your exact configuration is somewhere in the 20 units range (174*(202/1730))... but that's probably making some big assumptions...

I agree. Not sure why they don't have that data in 2022. It looks to be all Zl1 1LE's are pretty rare.

Wow. Only 572 ZLE’s in 20. 370 auto, 202 manuals. Makes the 2020’s pretty rare cars.

This is great info. Would love to see the 21 and 22 numbers when they're available.

Build numbers are great topic for a sticky thread. There is a outdated thread someone used to update. I search periodically for the numbers and haven’t found any good data out there.

Hi all,

Gtoimpulse…. Thanks for the data you posted on the 2020 ZL1 production numbers. I just submitted a similar request to them for the same info on my 2022 ZLE.

I didn’t buy my ‘22 expecting it to be some very rare item, I just missed my ‘18 ZLE that I sold in 2021. However, it is interesting to see the numbers you posted for 2020. With the pandemic and product constraints these past two years, I believe my ‘22 ZLE will have similar or even less numbers produced than in 2020. It took GM from 10/21 to 5/22 to finally complete my car, I believe because of the parts availability issues.

As soon as I get a response from GM Heritage I will post up the details for the ‘22 model.

JJ

Just got an e-mail back from GM Heritage. They won’t have the ‘22 data until early ‘23.

The e-mail is: gmhc@gm.com

Sharing the 2021 camaro production numbers!

Thank you for contacting the GM Heritage Center.

As you will see in the chart below, there were a total of 1533 ZL1 built for the 2021 model year.

Below that, you will see a breakdown showing how many of those ZL1 had certain color, trim, engine, etc., including the 1LE performance package.

Wait, why are there 2 different codes for manual trans cars? What am I missing?

The ZL1 1LE has different gearing than the ZL1:
