Idling iat2 temps

I have a p3 gauge and have watched my iat2 temps for sometime. They are usually 15-20* above ambient when cruising. I haven't checked them on a track day as I'm a novice and trying to make sure I keep it on the track. When idling the other day at 85* ambient I saw the temp rise to 115-125*. I know at the barber Motorsports park hpde I was idling on the grid for about ten minutes waiting for the session to start and saw over 100* on a 60* day.

My car has bolt ons; 2" kooks, Kong ported blower, 103 tb, wpnx heat exchangers, adm coolant reservoir, 2.3 pulley, big gulp Cai, and vengeance tune. I thought the temps would be lower. Am i running hotter than I should or is fine? Car runs great and I can't say enough good things about vengeance and my local Chevy dealer mechanic.

Well the SC sits on top of the engine so there is going to be some heat transfer from that. Doubt you will ever see iat below 100 ever. Engine temps are normally 180 degrees and heat rises, so it’s going to get some of that heat no matter what. You just don’t wanna see 130-150s

I also recognize that I'm working the blower harder. But, that's why I installed the adm tank and the wpnx exchangers. I was just curious if this was normal as I assumed I'd see lower temps. Luckily I'm easy on the car other than track days so I'm not too concerned. I just figured I'd ask everyone's opinion and experience. Thanks.

Sitting still is the issue.

How does the supercharger cooling system work?

Uses 2 radiator and neither have a dedicated cooling fan.

Once moving you have that endless blast of cooling air...

Believe most LT4 systems pull timing at 130+ degrees...my track visit yesterday had over 140 degrees at times. It still made great power.

I know there is an IAT2 PID but I’m not exactly sure what that value is measuring or derived from. On the LSA engines this was the true interior blower air temp. However, per my tuner the PID the LT4 uses for blower air temp it MAT - Manifold air temp. It’s considerably higher than the IAT2 value. Just FYI...

Ron at vengeance explained it to me when I had my car there, but I've forgotten. I think you're right that it's a calculated value. Regardless I was just curious what others are seeing and if it seemed high with the mods I've added. Luckily I never see more than a20* differential with moderate driving on the street. I wonder if a electric fans on the exchanger would make a difference at idle. If that even matters. Thanks for the replies.

idling with high iat temps is very common. Once moving 50 yards you will see it go down. you will also most likely see 5 degrees of timing pulled then it goes away once moving. the stock box usually helps with this more than say an open box. I've done a crap ton of testing with vararam and this is a huge area he works on not to mention a vortex or ram air effect of grabbing fresh air from places you can't imagine. Just sticking a cone filter on like rotofab doesn't squeeze every last drop of power out but they sure are pretty.

He's gotten my timing up from 17 something to over 20, maf millivolts from 1000 to 8s, 5 degress of cam retard to 0 all these things and more effect the computer judgement to make power..

The correct pid is Manifold Air Temp.

Yeah select manifold temps. It's probably closer to 150 if you're idling. It's a shame no one has made a fan kit for these heat exchangers. Not a lot of room I guess. If you want to keep your temps down hit us up for a interchiller kit. You'll see intake temps under 100 all day.

Wonder if anyone has been able to reprogram the ECU to keep the radiator fan on for a set time (say 60 seconds) after shutting the car off (like you can do on the ECU in other vehicles, like a V2 CTS-V). I was told this was not possible on this ECU.
