[ASKED] Camaro SS No-Lift Shift feature questions

Al,
My primary reason for asking this question is to confirm that the No-Lift Shift (NLS) algorithm is functioning properly on my 2017 1SS. At this year's Camaro Fest in Bowling Green, I asked during the Q&A about the NLS algorithm and you confirmed it was enabled on all 6th gen manual transmission Camaro SS cars. I recently tested the feature out and it did not work how I was expecting. Before I use it again, I'd like to confirm I'm executing it correctly and not just banging into a 6500 RPM limiter if that's not how the feature is supposed to work. Could you please help me clear up the following questions:

1. When the accelerator pedal is at 100% and remains there throughout the procedure, what should engine speed do as the clutch pedal gets depressed and the shift lever moved to the next gear? Does engine speed jump to and get held at 6500 RPM or is engine speed supposed to reduce?

2. What are the enable criteria for the no-lift shift algorithm?

3. Is the algorithm tuned exactly the same between the SS 1LE and SS without 1LE package?

Background information and follow-up questions:
When I perform a no-lift upshift, as I depress the clutch the engine speed will go to 6500 RPM and stay there similar to this video below. I'm concerned that the feature is not working as intended and it might just be hitting a normal rev limiter. Another example is in this post as well: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...1&postcount=24

However, others (specifically with the SS 1LE) have PDR videos of executing a similar shift and engine speed drops to match up with the next gear. Reference this video:

Which video demonstrates the NLS feature operating properly? Does PTM in the 1SS 1LE impact the NLS algorithm?

Yes, I asked All (no pun intended) this very question and the answer was All V8 6th Gen Camaros have no lift shift.

However, from the threads we have here this is a great question.

Here are some of the No Lift Shift threads on this forum. A lot of folks have questions about this feature and would really appreciate clarification on how it's supposed to work so they don't damage their cars.

I'm curious as well to this answer. I have a manual 1SS Convertible and when I attempt a no lift, I'm not hearing the sputter that the vehicle gives off. My question Is it all Manuals or Only manual coupes?

The process is posted in the header of this forum.
There is no guarantee it will even be asked.

Expect possibly 2 weeks for selection. Another week for voting and the winner get passed on to Al and the Camaro team.
It could take...a week? 2 weeks, a month for an answer from them

Moderators,
What's the timing on the first set of questions being selected and poll set up?

Thanks for adding this section!

I'm not sure why there is so much uncertainty with this feature maybe because it's not listed in the manaul but it definitely does not work in touring mode and it's painfully obvious when it works and when it doesn't.

You either get a smooth shift or you don't.

I guess getting an official answer will clear things up

In the various threads on this topic, several folks are saying it works in any mode. You say it definitely does NOT work in touring. If it's painfully obvious when it is and is not working, then there wouldn't be so many threads and debates on this feature.

The question in the first post is clear. Two No lift shifts behaving differently as shown in the videos. Which one is working as intended, or was the feature in the 1LE tuned differently?

I really would like to hear straight from the team that designed it to confirm exactly how it's supposed to work.

I'd love a true answer to this as well. I'm not even certain how it's supposed to work...but my 2017 SS in track mode works exactly like the first video. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of rev matching going on...it just lays up at the limited from the looks and sounds of it so I don't use.

Since we just launched the section, let's allow some time for some discussion to take place. Say, another week or so. Then - we'll post a poll for voting the week after that...and when selected - give another 2 weeks to get a good response from Al and the Team.

So...at most - a Month from now.
