Cold air from dash vents when A/C is off

Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm getting cold air out of my dash vents, even with the A/C off? I can be sitting it my hot garage, with the engine idling (garage door open), learning my Infotainment System, and the vents blow cold air (when the temp control is turned down to "Low"). I'd expect the vents to be blowing outside air at much warmer temps?

I'm pretty sure that the A/C is off, because when I press the A/C button I can hear the compressor click on.

This is Tucson, AZ where the daily temps are around 100.

Even while driving, the vents blow cold air without the A/C on. I don't even need to turn the A/C on. Does this car have a pre-cooler for the outside air, that works without the A/C on?

I only notice that if I'm driving and turn temp control to low

We've noticed this too, but it has to be on the Low setting. Tried it turned up 1 degree and it just got warm and humid. Just another "feature" of a great car.

Good to know that it's apparently a feature with other C7 owners.

I'm going to have to monitor my Instant Fuel Economy readout while driving, and see if it makes any difference if I have the A/C on or not?

The LO setting will certainly run the AC and blow cold air, but I also found that the Auto Defog On (the default) can too. I turned it off in the vehicle settings.

Settings -> Vehicle -> Climate and Air Quality -> Auto Defog

XP800;
I can certainly change the setting for the Auto Defog, thanks.
I'm not hearing the A/C compressor click on, when the temp is in the LO setting? Only after I press the A/C button? So, what's going on there? Is this a new-tech compressor that doesn't require the A/C button to be pressed, to work?

Is the only way to keep the A/C compressor from running is by not selecting the LO setting?

XP800, gogurick, et. al;

Well, after some further experimentation, here is what I've learned.

When the temperature control is turn to LO, the A/C compressor comes on, regardless if the A/C button/light is on. You can hear the compressor click on, when you turn the temp. control knob from a setting of 61 or above, to LO.

With the temp setting at 61 or above, the A/C turns off (with the A/C button still off).

There isn't any compressor click when the A/C turns off.

When the temp setting is 61 or above; when you press the A/C button, you will hear the compressor come on.

Apparently this is just a feature of the car that didn't make it into the owners manual?

Why? Just press and hold the Start button without pressing the brake or clutch and the car will go into the Maintenance Mode where everything works without the engine running. Much safer and saves on gas. Gives you all the time you need to learn the different systems. Just press the Start again to exit the mode.

Buzzardz_vette;

Thanks.....I'll try that. I've still got a lot more reading to do in the manual.
