You'll def. have to upgrade your fuel system. Best bang for the buck will be a Squash system. LPE, and ADM are rated for 800. I'm sure they'll do more, but you'd be pushing the envelope. A short block is a must. You'll get a lot of suggestions. Best thing to do would be to find a shop that you're going to work with and talk with them. They may be more adjusted to using one company over another.

Maybe. He could sell most of the stuff that he has on there already to recover some of the losses. He may be cutting it close though.

ERL Superdeck block, F1 Procharger or IPS TT kit, upgraded fuel system, RPS BC3 or Mantic 9000. That's a good starting point but other misc parts add up as well as labor if you don't do anything yourself.

I figure I will be close but I think its within reason. Hopefully some shops chime in and share some knowledge so I can get the ball rolling on a build.

I would choose a shop based on reputation, not whoever jumps in on a spend x amount of money thread. Having an engine built for a reliable 1000whp will cost 15k easy.

Thats a givin. I did all of the work on my car thus far. Im a certified master technician I just dont have time for this build. A reputable shop is a must and I know enough to make sure I pick the right one.

The way I see it is this:

Engine build (LSX or ERL): 15k
Power Adder (TT or F1X): 8k
Fuel System: 3k
Rear End: 5k
Clutch: 2k
Suspension: 2k (at least, you wanna hook, right?)

That's 35k right there, and we haven't broken anything yet

Subtract the suspension, figure he could get $4K for his existing S/C setup, a ZL1 rear is $4K he's just a little over his mark. If he just does a ERL shortblock, even if it's a Superdeck I, that's under $10K, with the core, he's right there. Assuming he does all the labor himself, it's doable. Not trying to start anything with you, just being objective that's all.

No I understand where you're coming from, but 11 times out of 10 a build will end up over budget. Suspension isn't a full blown necessity, but it is if you want to take advantage of the new found power.

If I did my math somewhat correctly, I've bought, and had install probably at least $15k The last thing on my list is going to be a short block and then I'm done.

I think you could totally do it if you do the wrenching yourself.

I would do a stock sleeved 417 for your goals. Seen lots of stock sleeved LS3 blocks making 1000whp. Turbo's would help a lot, 15% less drive train loss not running a big blower off the crank.
