Battery protection/charger question

I have a 2016 coupe. When I plug in the Corvette battery tender in the rear power port, is it ok to let the hatch close against the cord? I worry if the cord will crush a portion of the rubber seal and allow water leaks in the Spring when I remove the cord.

It does not hurt the cord but keep the cord away from the hinges and latch. The charger will NOT work on any of the recepticals in the console area.

I extend mine through the front cabin and out the driver side window (only put the window down far enough for the cord to go out, and window holds it in place).
