2017 Vette and beyond

Was wondering if they will go mid engine or stay the way are now for another few years. Read a article that says the 2017 will be a C8 mid engine car, kinda of surprising since the C7 is only been in production for 2 years. Is this all pure speculation or possible hardcore truth???
