Looking at the numbers it looks like the ZL1 is closer to the C5 Z06, 3.9 to 4.0 0 to 60 and low 12 sec. 1\4 mile with some guys hitting 11.9 in stock form. I currently have a C5 Z06 and a 2013 Camaro SS. I just started looking at the ZL1.. considering trading in the SS.

We just sold our 09' Z06 in favor of a 15' ZL1. The Z06 was very nice, refined and nice to drive but it wasn't quite what we wanted. They are so different it's hard to even begin to compare. We went from a built 13' 1LE to the Vette with good intentions but after 1 year of owning it we'd decided a Camaro is where we really wanted to be.
We all have our likes and opinions, both cars have their pros & cons. Do your research before jumping to the Z06, which year even within the C6 range, engine issues (heads) along with other potential issues. No car is perfect, just be aware.

I'm on my third turbo Porsche & they are everything lacking in a corvette at twice the price though. Biggest plus for me cause of my height & age is comfort & leg room. With the PDK & excellent launch control the acceleration is incredible 2.6 0-60 & 10 second 1/4 mile times plus all wheel drive it doesn't get much better. Having said this the corvette still is a fun car & a bargain I miss my 2010 ZR1 but just couldn't deal with the comfort issues. I would like to own a ZL1 even though i think it's kind of slow but the potential with a little work is very appealing.

I would encourage some reading on the carbon buildup issues with direct injection engines
as well as heat issues before deciding.....just sayin....LSA has been out much longer than the LT1/LT4 and proven to be "stout"! Oh wait...just realized you were talking C6 not C7...sorry....nevermind! lol |

Both cars can get you in trouble on public roads if you are not careful in multiple ways. I like the new C7Z too, but would not give up the C6Z or ZL1 to purchase one. And its not in the cards right now. Good luck in you decision! |
