How to launch my ZL1 at the strip

Sorry if this has been discussed already but I couldnt find anything. I just traded my 2010 modded SS stick for a 2013 ZL1 auto and am going to the strip this thurs for some shakedown runs. How should I launch? At first I will run with my street tires then later try out my DRs. What setting should I be in to do a burn out and also to launch? Paddle shift or leave it alone? Thanks for any advice.

.....since you are asking, I'll give you the official rehetoric...<this stuff is in your owners manual, and in the sticky section on C5>. After starting your vehicle, press the far right switch on your center console next to the sport/tour switches. It's the stabilitrak switch. Press it twice, you will enter PTM mode. Once you see you are in PTM mode by visually viewing it in the DIC, < and two yellow lights will illuminate in the right instrument guage> toggle sport to the go up to level 5 PTM. That will say race mode PTM5 in the DIC. On the starting line after you stage, press the throttle to the floor and hold it there. The RPM will bounce off the rev limiter, and settle down to about 4,300 RPM. Once the last light yellow comes on the tree, lift off the clutch and go. You can keep your throttle foot matted to speed shift..that is ok.

It's an auto...

I wasn't going to comment because I drive a stick and have nothing useful to add, but I saw this above and it solicited a response, and "That Guy" in me has to put this....

My understanding, given that it's an automatic, is that you point the tires that-a-way, wait for the green light, and punch the gas

I think so? Easy way to find out, go to your driveway, start the car, hit the button twice, so forth and so on. You'll see the PTM pop up on your info center between your tach and speedo if you have it. I don't know why you wouldn't. I think you are top speed limited, but I think they still want you to have a good drag car

...lol, I didn't see it was an auto, no biggie, but...since you solicited a response, that guy in me says if you wait till it's green to mash it you will be snoozing at the light and what's the point in drag racing then...

The convertible does NOT have the PTM modes.

it's one of the differences between the Verts and the Coupes.

I'm going to go with, that sucks. So what does the vert have, just a gas peddle and a clutch? Serious question, do you launch it like just in sport mode or something?

Another difference is that the Verts are limited to 155mph due to the fabric top.

As far as I know, the Vert does have 'Launch Control' where you slam the gas peddle with the clutch pushed it. The car will then rev to and hold at a rpm (usually around 4,000rpm) depending on the time, then you just release the clutch and hold on.
This is the same thing my 2011 Vert had and it worked great.

I just haven't found the right time and place to try it.
Yet.
