Disappointed with 1/4 mile performance

So i took my car to the drag strip in Commerce Ga. last friday. Only thing done to my car is the Vortech V3 SI supercharger kit (bought it that way). I was running consistant 12.8s @ 110.8 and after looking through the forums i saw thats what some STOCK cars are running! Although i was taking it easy off the line, i feel as if i should be doing a little better than that. Cars an auto and i let it do the shifting just so i could get a “baseline” run before i continue to modify the car. Can anyone help me out here as to why this is?

you need DR's...for your setup minimum 17's but better would be a 15' conversion...2nd you need a tq conv that has a higher stall...3rd is seat time...takin it easy off the line is where you are losin all of you time...until your 60' is below 2 sec you will be chasin time slips till the cows come home....this will get you started...good luck!

Ditto on the wheels. I wouldn't waste my money on 15s unless you are over the top on the build and will be chasing 9 second passes. 17s with DRs will be fine, I run 1.40 60 ft with them.

So its my launch basically thats killin me? I was trying to be careful off the line because a while back, my dad had a camaro with similar power as mine and he snapped his CV joints launching it off the tree.

Yeah im not trynna dig into 9s.. im only gunna pully down the blower, headers/exhaust, fuel management upgrades, and maybe change to the 3.91 gears. I highly doubt i would be gettin close to 9s

Those 22" wheels you have are no good for drag racing.
Pro Stock John has a good thread on here for drag racing wheel/tire setup.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=392950

You'll also want to upgrade your rear suspension, toe links/trailing arms to start, to eliminate wheel hop from hard launches.

If your are truly "drag racing" and trying to get the absolute best possible et's for your car the first 60 is the trick! My sig has my mods and my goal is to get as little wheel spin as possible out of the hole while keeping the rpm's up in the "meat" of the power band..with my basically stock setup, zero power adders, no weight reduction etc is proving to be a bit more challenging than originally anticipated BUT that make's goin to the strip all the more fun for me! My personal goal is that every trip will show improvement in one of three areas...60', et and mph....good luck!

btw - as above wheel hop is the enemy and my BMR T/A's and Prothane rear-sub inserts give me ZERO hop....

You may want to rethink the 3.91 gears with a supercharger. Normally, NA cars do that swap. I have 3.73 and would probably do better with 3.45 with a supercharger but that size isn't available for the ZL1 diff.

Oh dang, i never realized that. I imagine it would be a highway RPM problem?

More or less because the A6 gearing

Switching to 3.91 you’d blow the tires off because a supercharger is instant boost, and wouldn’t recover traction till 3rd gear

Sure that(60ft) effects the ET but that MPH is extremely low for a blown car.

I have a FI car with supporting mods and I'm hitting that trap speed in 1/8 mile.

True, but since I am not F/I I was limiting my input to the 60...OP what he says above is true...your top end charge should be generating higher mph...
who or how is the car tuned?

Exactly! Thats what i figured. (@jrhagen & 102SS) But i bought the car with the supercharger kit originally, previous owner told me it had the tune that came with the kit via SCT handheld.
