Engine out...ERL forged 427 coming soon

Just yanked the stock LS7 and am awaiting the arrival of the ERL forged 427 I ordered.

The stock block has your VIN number and production dates to match your Z28. The VIN number is located on the deck (drivers side rear) shown in one of your pictures. It would be better to keep it and just pay the core charge. You never know what the collectability will be on these Z28s.

You can have erl sleeve your block and not a new core so you keep your matching numbers. That's what I did on my gto.

I'm surprised you pulled the motor with the hood still on the car. Didn't that make it a little tight to get the clearance needed to get the cherry picker in there and remove the block?

It was tight but it barely cleared. It took patience and that motor tilting device to gently get it past the tight areas. I took the strut loose but found it was only worth about an extra 2" so I just left it in place. Cracking the paint on the hood bolts wasn't something I wanted to do.
