I think it is funny that the Mustang6g Fanboys are calling this track time as something that does not matter "The bottom line is that the 'ring times are marketing gimmicks" and they don't take stock in the 'ring. Or that "Ford says 'ring times are pointless".

They just can't stand it that 3 different Camaro versions are so much faster or as fast as the 350R.

Update: I guess the MF's guys will say that the record does not count because it was on a different day...

The 'Ring times are in a gray area - because there is no sanctioning body to establish fairness in practice or validity in testing procedures. Yet...it IS a clear, and impressive benchmarking tool for track-oriented cars.

On the Ring...1-3 seconds may as well be driver error, or a tailwind...but 14 seconds, such as the difference between ZL1 auto and ZL1 1LE, is simply amazing!

Yeah, he sort of got off his line a little bit there....(I think)...but did a great job saving it....each time he went to 2nd gear, it go a little squirrely...and he shifted up to third pronto...Far be it from me to criticize as well....lol...
I hope the guys who will track theirs, don't have the rear come around on them after a downshift....

The video was awesome....hard to read, but I thought it was cool we could see his tire pressure and speedometer on the dash...lol..

I wonder what that other gauge was mounted on top he kept adjusting...??...Just curious...

Exactly, it is a percent of total time in the difference that really tells the tale.

They didn't pull the "it should only count if they were on the same tires" crap?

They were saying Big Willow does not count either. Well then, the MT comparison was a farce I guess.

That driver was the highlight of the video.

Of course, it also shows how skilled(and brave) you have to be to get the most out of that car.

That is a fantastic time made by a great driver. Considering that the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have the same engine and power train, a 15 second difference is huge and shows how incredibly well the aero is working on this car. Congratulations Chevy.

Not that GM really cares what they think about the camaro. Unfortunately, the US doesn't really know anything about this track enough to care about the ZL1's time.
The U.S. may not, but true auto enthusiasts do.
