60 is a great trade in value. I'd be thinking more like 55, so 60 would work. If only I were trading mine in, which I have zero plans on doing.

Why get rid of it now? We are just now entering the fall road course season. Enjoy the car in the upcoming cool weather.

Why didn't they get air conditioning? So it would be lighter and faster on the track? Is the intended purpose as a track car, or a daily driver? If a daily driver, then why would someone NOT get air conditioning?

Z/28 peeps are getting hit hard...no doubt about it.

Put a/c in the car = cheaper.

I bought mine as a keeper. Which is why I got one with a/c.

Same here. I really don't think $60,000 for a trade is bad at all. I paid a little more than that for mine with air. I paid $60,900. Just curious, how much did he expect to get?

Mine is neither track car nor DD. I specifically wanted a '14 with no A/C because:
I knew they were rare (only 32 made in '14).
I felt it was "true" to the intent of the car and thus more interesting.
Racecar.

While I certainly agree that to the vast majority, a no A/C car is completely ridiculous, I appreciate the novelty of it. There's a reason that dealers ordered over 90% of them with A/C! I am under no delusion that without it, it makes the car an EXTREMELY tough sell, but maybe in 20yrs...??

BTW, if I was in the market and offered $60k on a trade for mine, I'd be thrilled!

Just because something is rare doesn't make it valuable. I guess there's a chance...
I used to race a Nissan NX2000 and ordered one without t-tops for rigidity and no A/C. Had to give it away and nobody has ever looked for one since. I was told it was one of three without t-tops in the USA.

We're all spoiled today with all the bells and whistles today's cars come standard with. I'm old enough to remember (many of you are too young to remember this) when AC was rare and considered a luxury. My dad bought a '59 Pontiac Star Chief with no factory air, so he had an aftermarket unit put in the trunk. That unit piped its cold air into the car through two plexiglass tubes in the rear window tray. That thing would blow chunks of ice out through the tubes! Factory air won't do that (thankfully).

^^^^^Agree 1000%

60k for a trade in value on a used Z/28 without Air is a very big number. Hell it's not bad for an Air car.

Two possibilities here:

1) the dealer doesn't know how hard it's going to be to move the Z

2) your bro is taking it in the short on whatever he is buying.

If he wants out he should make sure he's getting a fair deal on the other end and do it. Depending on the state your in the tax saving on the trade will make it more than worth it.

60k is normal.

Your brother didn't negotiate a good deal when he purchased. If dealers didn't wanna budge in your area, go to another area where they will. No excuse. He paid sticker price, what do y'all expect?

Normal 1st year depreciation when a new car is 15-25%. Average 20%. The Z/28 is no different. Just remember, the bigger the purchase price, the larger the depreciation number actually is when factoring in the 20% average drop.

Gotta look outside the northeast. We have notoriously high vehicle prices.

1) Expand whatever online search to the whole country
2) Bargain the hell out of them since these vehicles aren't moving

Anyway, I would just hold onto the car and have someone install the AC unit. It shouldn't be that difficult, these cars came off a manufacturing line and are designed to be put together interchangeably.

I agree with everyone else here. Take the $60k if you can, but putting A/C in it is easier.

How much will the dealer charge for that?
