No Camaro in GS class?

The first race of the season was this weekend in the Continental series in the GS class GT4, and noticed no Camaro that raced. Anybody know why? They had very good success last year and got the car GT4 ready, so surprised not to see any.

Stevenson motor sports left the sport after last year. Sadly soon after John Stevenson died.

Sad of all the cars there were zero camaros. Chevy really needs to do a batter job to premote and sell these cars to teams.

Agreed. The Camaro GT.R also, apparently, cost less than the Mustang GT4, to which is selling like crazy. I wonder if 1. GM is being difficult to deal with and/or 2. they are riding a negative impression from their past reluctance to provide private teams with support or just the ability to run?

The Mustang GT4 has more teething issues to get around, too. The Camaro GT4.R is pretty much good to go out of the box.

Yep blackdog still runs them in PWC.

I dont know what the issue is as to why no one in GS is using a camaro... I'd imagine that the cars from last year are for sale or maybe GM is picky about who they get sold to?

idk but it is disappointing especially when the class is so massive this year!

This might be why there weren't any in the race this weekend.

So does this mean that the only reason Stevenson and Black Dog were running them last year was they were working with Chevy for real world race testing/further development? Makes sense that way

Old article, but good point. Probably due to the lead time on parts. Hopefully we see them popping up in IMSA at Sebring, or at least Mid-Ohio (because I hope to attend) and in PWC for St Pete or CoTA.

Well first item on the how to start a race team is make sure you have lots of $$$$ in the bank. GT4.R alone is $259k I believe.

But it would be really nice to see more of the GT4.R’s competing this year.
