Funny. That's what I have now and besides the capability and function of the truck for the household, I can't wait to get out and into a go-fast car.

I lease a BMW 335i M-Sport now, and my cross shopping (leasing) is

Camaro 2SS
BMW M2 (w European delivery)
BMW 328d (as in Diesel...also European delivery)

Very confused. REALLY want a camaro but also REALLY want a european delivery that will include "the 'Ring".

Hope you aren't planning on driving your car on the ring after picking it up. Pretty sure that would void the warranty unless you spend a couple days driving it break it in. It was 1000 miles I think on my break in. Not sure what the M cars would list.

The truck makes the most sense and I love the updates for the 2016, especially the All Terrain. I also have a company service van I take home. So if I end up with an SS I will only get to drive it 8 months a year (or 12 if I buy snow tires) and I can't take my dog with me or make Home Depot trips, that would be my ratty 2000 Tahoe. It would see 4000 miles a year tops. At least with a truck I can drive it all year, for everything.

Another factor is come April there will be a 70 GTO in the garage that needs restoring from my dad. That would mean 3 personal vehicles and a company van, for just me. LOL

Lot of money for 4000 miles a year.

If i can find a way to not need a truck of some sort, it would be possible. Perhaps a light duty trailer for Home Depot trips and a trailer hitch for the SS!!

When moving to Detroit that was my logic as well. I unloaded my M3 when I moved north and regret it every day when I drive the truck. Find a delivery service for lumber or larger items, or rent a HD PU when you need it. Worth it in my mind.

Twin Cities get more snow, so you're more screwed than I am. I can phone it in on snow days if I really need to.

I think the Focus RS looks like a sweet car, especially in that unique pale blue colour. However, are you as pissed as I am that Ford Canada is killing us on the pricing of their cars versus the US, especially versus GM or Chrysler? The RS will MSRP for 48k CDN, even though it will come with a lot more standard kit than the US version.
Actually it's a little less than $47k CDN, and that includes a $2k winter tire/rim package, plus a car cover (!).

If you look at comparably equipped RSs, the Canadian price is actually over $10k cheaper (CDN$) than the American price at a .76 exchange rate, which is a pretty sweet deal.

I just test drove a Focus ST - it's a fast, fun little car, the RS with its additional 100 hp and sophisticated AWD will be a total blast. It may not sound or look quite as good as an SS, but it runs 4.2 to 60 on the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups it comes standard with here, so no slouch.

Oh - one other thing about the RS I almost forgot - you can actually see out of it!

4.2? Last I checked it was 6 something to 60. Even the RS is just under 5 to 60.

Wait you are talking the RS. 4.7 to 60 is what I'm seeing.

The 4.7 time you are referring to is Ford's official 0-100 kph time. Right from a Ford Powerpoint on the car, up at focusrs.org - 4.4 to 60 on the Pilot SSs. A Ford engineer has also been quoted as saying that the optional Pilot SCs take .2 sec off that time. From the slide:
Quote:
•0-100 km/h 4.7 seconds (0-60mph 4.4 seconds) –even quicker with Cup tyre
•Top speed 266 km/h, or 165 mph
It's possible the 2-3 shift happens right between 60 mph and 100 kph....

Those times may seem fast for a 345 hp, 3300 lb car - but that AWD lets it launch like a rocket. Also turbo - the RS torque "curve" is really a flat plateau at 347 ft-lb from about 2000-5500 rpm.

Wasn't planning to do it with my own car (but even if...how would they know?).
The plan is to drive my childhood dream car (my avatar name ) on the ring (just "The Tour") and rent a Clio RS for 4~6 laps.

Just because you like something, doesn't make it factually better than the alternatives.
I dont recall stating that anything was "factually better" than any alternatives. If Im ever lacking for words, Ill be sure to tag you in.

Gotcha. I'll be sure to ignore the nonsense in your posts the next time, since despite my repeated attempts at politely engaging you, you refuse to expound upon your previously ludicrous statement.

"2016 Camaro 2SS 1LE <-- if exists < $55K
2016 Alfa Giulia <-- ~ $65K
2016 BMW M2 <-- ~$60K
200[9-11] 911S <-- last P car with legendary hydraulic steering, < $55K with <30K mi & extended Porsche warranty "

Guess which one I chose

Neither. I opted for a 2012 997.2 GTS. The price differential is substantial mind you, but my God,..it is Soooo Worth it!!!

Side notes:
- not sure if 2SS justifies its price and additional weight above a 1SS. Especially since navigation using a smart phone imaged onto a 1SS display panel seems to render the 2SS navigation pointless
- wish I liked the front grill of gt350, but can't get over how busy those interwoven fangs are..
- entertaining the leasing option

Drivingagain, having now driven one that I also own myself , I must respectfuly differ again, this time with first hand authority, on your point that "non-turbo porsches get boring quickly". Boring is definitely an antonym for 997.2 911 GTS. I can't imagine it Ever being dull. This car is a Masterpiece, both to look at and more importantly, to DRIVE!

But enough of Pcars, I still can't wait till the 1LE!

If it was a turbo I would say go for it. To me the linear rpm of the porsche non turbos get boring quickly. There is no raw seat of your pants, feel like a teenager again left any more. Yes looking for very linear, very predictable, posh interior. I am going from imports back to muscle cars because they have become boring and blah. Sure the porsche turbo's with 500hp are awesome. Now a real fun car to drive is a 911 with a ls3 in it! I almost bought a 2000's porsche to do this. Then thought why? The new camaro will be able to handle a 427 and that is a beast! Look at the post of the guy who's brother just ran a all engine 10.4 quarter mile. That is a man's car to me! Like riding a 500 two stroke through the woods against your buddies 125. Sure he will get there and not kill himself. It will be smooth and linear too. You only live once and I will never forget my 500 two stroke. The porsche with out the ls3 in it I have long forgot and it was a 2009 porsche 911S. JMHO. Could not be worth anything to you.[/QUOTE]
