Possible 427 in Fifth Generation Camaro
I would hope that GM would follow history with the intorduction of the new Fifth Generation Camaro. I would hope GM offers an array of different motors like they did in 1969. I would love to see the power house motor being the Z06 motor. GM did it in 1969, why can't they do it today to declare war against the Mustang and Challanger. What better way to make sales than to get everyone up and head to the streets with the most powerful Camaro's Mustangs and Challangers ever produced from the factory? By the results of Barrett-Jackson car auction the market is here, now all the manufactures have to do is build the cars. Jeff

It was easier in the 60's and early 70's to drop in any engine GM wanted because most of the parts (engine mounts ect.) on the small block and big block were interchangeable. I don't see why GM can’t do that now. The 7L 427 is a small block... Man I like saying that, "7L 427"!

If GM does put together a Camaro with a 7L 427 don't be surprised if it pushes 40 to 50k. The GT500 MSRP is 41K before any options. The Charger SRT with the 6.1 HEMI MSRP starts at 38K so you could just about guess the Challenger 6.1 is going to be close to that. I would put that kind of green down for a 505 HP Camaro that runs low 11's in the 1/4. You know what they say "Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go"?

Man idk about you but i want to go pretty ****in fast. and what i heard the plain camaro's is going to have the 4.3 V6, and we all know that was a bad ass V6. Then the Z28 version was going to have a 6.0L 400hp engine and, when you went with the SS package you were going to get a better handling package and the big boy 7.0l 505hp. That is what I heard but, idk if it is true or not, so don't hold me to it. "burn Mustang burn bitch". I hate mustangs i can't help it.

I know that gm will not be out done by dodge or ford ,the shelby cobra already has 505 hp and the challenger will probably have the r/t package with a 500+ hp in her ,so gm will definitely have the same if not 600 plus hp.(personally I want a striped down model with the 7.0L and a 6 speed tranny)

Let's just pray they can cut cost in enough areas to make an LS7 truly an affordable Cobra eater. They can do it. I'm just wondering how much they can do.

i agree with killer, its going to be a pretty penny for the 7.o but im willing to pay it. gm already said that if dodge has the 6.1 liter with 400 whatever hp, then gm has an extra 100 hp on tap. dont be surprised if they do it. im just wondering when they will. will they do like the vette and wait a couple months after before they bring out the big motor. or will they just bring it out right off that bat and not have to wait. personally i dont want to have to wait becasue i want this camaro really bad and i want the 427 in it, i dont know if i would wait and getthe 427 or just getthe 6.0 and throw a supercharger on it

I think it'll take a few. They will probably do a run on V6's before anything else so they can get them on lots, begin to sell, and bring some cash back into GM. Blac, why would you settle for less? You've been saying you want the LS7 this whole time. Don't short change yourself just so you can get into a Camaro right off the bat! Wait a few and get what you want. There won't be many 427's (even if they do make them) and just putting a supercharger on an LS2 doesn't have that nostalgic appeal as a 427.

i want to be the first around me to have it. i guess well have to see. i could throw a supercharger on and be pushing over 500 at the wheels by the time the 427 comes out and still (depending on the price) be cheaper than a 427. i just want the camaro,(v8, no 6er's) the motor meen alot but i know im going to invest some money in it and change things anyways. yeah a supercharged 427 would be bad but i dont know how long ,after the car comes out, that i can wait. im going through withdrawl from my old car. i need to shift gears and burn tires and race. i had one of the fastest cars in my city and now its gone all these little jap wagons and rice box's are running the streets.

Good Lord...imagine a supercharged 427. Heck, that's exactly what GM is doing w/ the Blue Devil! That would be capable of putting out an easy 600hp. But, still, it's not just a supercharger going on if you want to run it knowing you won't have any future problems. You'd have to step up some of the internal components as well, right? Yeah, it would still come out less expensive than a 427.

Even better. Just toss on a supercharger, change the compression ratio, and that's it? Good grief, that's going to be something else!

If you don't ask you do not get. We wanted the Camaro, we got the Camaro by OUR input. We bombarded the Chevy web site of a million hits just after the Chicago show. If you want the LS7 in a Camaro, bombard the web site again and again. If they get a HALF a million hits, I would venture to say they will have sufficiant justification to do it. Besides Lingenfelter will have some wild thing for the Camaro.

you dont have to do anything to the internals to run a supercharger. i had one on my 99 ta with an ls1 and it was fine. i had to take it and tune it in detroit but thats all. its no big deal to supercharge a car. and if i were to supercharge a 427 i would get more power out of it that the 600 they plan on gettting out of the blue devil. after market superchargers normally give you about 40 to 50 percent more hp. that 427 would probably get about 650 to 675 at the wheels.
