6th. gen 1LE VS 5th gen ZL1 which is faster?
Now that the 6th. gen 1LE was revealed and is 3 secs. faster than what a 6th. gen regular SS laps. I wonder which one will give a faster lap time, the 6th. gen SS 1LE or the 5th. gen ZL1?

I believe the OP is talking about on a road course not drag race. I would speculate it would be very close. Perhaps more dependent on tires or the track. The tighter the track the better the 1LE would likely do.

I'm going to guess the ZL1 will still be a bit quicker around the track but just. Thank goodness there are some easy mods to kick up the performance of our Z's before we get our butts handed to us. I picked up one of the last things I need for my mods and should have cam, pulleys, headers, injectors, heat exchanger and a tune done in a few weeks. Safe until they release the next Z version.

I think the new 1LE will edge out the ol' ZL1.

It depends on which sub forum you're on (ZL1, Z28, 1LE)

Well if you can't just handle the truth,I guess they can always change forums, to match track times to fit their personal preference ,lol...

I think the ZL1 will be slightly faster, but it's going to be darn close.

Big track (Auto Club Speedway)with long straights = ZL1
Small track (Streets of Willow) = 6th Gen 1LE

it will be close I think. the 1le is manual only so an auto zl1 is going to be quicker in a strait line.
In my mind the new 1le should be a tick faster I mean they know the lap times for the zl1 so 1le should best it. the new z?? whould best the z28. that is if there smart. harder to sell new cars if they don't perform better.

Just the fact that we're even talking about a 1LE competing with a ZL1 speaks volumes about how much better the Gen 6 cars are. If you look at the specs they almost read the same......MRC, Brembo brakes, 285 tires in the front 305s in the back, etc. The big difference is the weight and Alpha Platform. The only advantage I see the ZL1 having is the motor, which isn't a small difference, almost 130hp. In my humble opinion they will be neck and neck, with the 1LE better in the turns and the ZL1 better on the straights. The track layout would probably determine which is faster. The bottom line is the 1LE is going to be awesome and the Gen 6 ZL1 will be out of this world......probably even better suspension with about 200 more hp.
