MY NEW 2015 Camaro LS

Yesterday went and leased a 2015 Camaro. For about 2 years now I have wanted a Camaro and it never worked out however finally its getting dropped off today at my mothers workplace. I havent even sat inside of it SMH..

However thats not the point.. The point of this thread is what gas type should i put?

87 / 89 / 93 .. Does it even really matter?

Check the gas cap. It should list the recommended octane rating.

87 octane or higher is what the LS engine is manufactured, spec'd, and calibrated to run on for maximum efficiency. The book says "use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane rating of 87 or higher". You will hear others say they us higher octane because it's "better for the engine". Ask them "how so?". All gas contains detergents to help clean your engine and fuel system while you drive. Buying anything higher than 87 octane is a waste of your money.

87 octane will be fine. The LFX pulls less timing with higher octane, but given it is a lease you probably aren't going to mod it for performance so save the coin.

Do a forum search (gets discussed a lot), there's dyno results that imply higher octane increases hp but moreso low end torque in the power band. Try a fresh tank of premium to decide for yourself. Unfortunately that means running through the 87 octane the dealer will fill it with. I use 93 octane after being a non-believer. Proof is in the puddin'.

The V6 doesn't see much love here. I think it's got lots of pep and have no problems zooming around when I want/need to. If you're not planning on going to the track then you'll likely agree. If you want track performance then you should have leased the V8.

Nothing wrong with the V6, I got love for it. 87 octane is fine, congrats on your lease!

Use regular unleaded. The engine is programed to run at peak performance on that type of gas. Using super or anything else is just a waste of money. A good friend of mine who is a service manager of a local chevy dealer told me this. STOCK V6 only.

Not true. The LFX pulls quite a bit of timing on 87 octane with the factory tune.

I use 87. I must be the only one that thinks this car is a gas guzzler.

Ya it will guzzle gas, but only if you want it to, I have seen these V6s from personal experience get 32+ MPGs, AND when my wife drove across the country (drafting the Penske truck at 60MPH or less on average) the DIC showed 35.5 MPGs......ya it can happen...
but around this crazy city of Vegas and all the stop and go traffic and my heavy foot, I average 20 MPGs, and I still feel that is excellent mileage...
