I hope they announce the engine build experience again.

True, but the Z06 was under 3200 lbs, so I'm hoping the come in below 3400.

Yes, but without supercharger plumbing, etc.

Agreed. I'd imagine that if you look at the C7's 3290 and the weight saving techniques already in use there, then add in a blower, heat exchanger, intercooler, additional coolant tank, pump, piping, etc. We'll most likely see ~3450.

But with 650/650 that "low" weight gain will be a negligible difference.

The difference is the Stingray already has an aluminum chassis instead of the steel in the base C6 and it still weighs more. Now add in the supercharger and associated plumbing plus the reinforcement for 650 hp and 650 lb ft and I doubt it weighs anywhere near the C6 Z06.

Will the Z/28 basically become what the 1LE is now? Or will the develop the LT1 to put out more HP for the Z/28 like for did for the Boss with the Coyote engine and give the ZL1 a detuned LT4?
As much as I think the Z28 vs Z/28 thing is a coincidental thing, they would probably make a "Z28" version that is basically what the 1LE is. They know that the Z/28 should not be supercharged, they almost made that mistake the first time around.

Sounds like you guys are assuming they are just throwing the LT-4 in a Stringray. Look back at the C6 weights:

Base: 3,200
Z06: 3,150
ZR1: 3,400

So, the base C7 (3,298) picked up not quite 100 lbs. I'm hoping that they used some additional weight-saving techniques on the Z06 that they didn't use on the Stingray to keep the Z06 weight between the old Z06 and ZR1.

I guess we won't know until GM decides to tell us.

Likely, but quoting or being proud of it is strictly forbidden unless you want to be called a hillbilly/simplistic/old fashioned person.

And whoever referenced Facebook...seriously? "Discussions" on FB are actually worse than those on youtube. And that's no small achievement.

I'm not assuming anything. It's pretty obvious they would have to modify the chassis to handle the increases power and torque but they lose the major weight savings by already having an aluminum chassis.

I'm looking for weight savings elsewhere. My guess is going to be around 3350-3360.

Where do you see that kind of weight savings? The Z/28 lost most of its weight from no A/C, no HIDs, smaller wheels, CCBs and redesigned back seat. I doubt the will cut out those things in order to save weight.

Me too! I'll leave my hubby at home, resulting in a huge weight loss! The Whining from the Supercharger will be more than enough for me......

Right, and Z06 is not meant to be a contentless track day car. Its to be much more than that. They could utilize items from that program such as thinner glass, but you can't go yanking out the A/C, sound system, or too much sound buffering material either. Not if you want it to compare favorable against those cars in that eschelon, in a content and ride quality pov, anyway. Those of us who are more performance minded wouldn't care if NVH is out of control as long as it's amazingly fast, but those "non-enthusiasts" who buy in that market tend to look at that sort of thing and GM needs to keep the vehicle somewhat civil or they'll end up in the position Dodge did with Viper, a great car, but no manners vs other cars in its market.
