Nothing in my camaro. Knock on wood. I really don't push it a lot anyway. Can't afford any tickets right now. Anyway, a few years back I was in my firebird up on the other side of Dallas. We were leaving from the bowling alley after it shut down so it was late. I was taking a friend home that had been drinking and then I was going to take my son's mom home after that. I was pissed at her for something and it was cold so I had given her my shirt. My dash had stopped lighting up a couple of weeks before so I really couldn't see the speedometer. Next thing I know I am getting pulled over by a State Trooper. I never even saw him. He asked me to get out of the car and asked if I knew why he was pulling me over. I told him no because I honestly didn't know. He said I was doing 115. I was in an 82 firebird with a 305 and the speedometer only went to 85 so I was really shocked at that. So he asked me a bunch of questions and I told him my story and that I didn't even realize how fast I was going because I was aggravated and distracted. He kept asking about why I had no shirt on with it being cold and all of that. So he proceeded to tell me that in Texas if you are 100 or over they are supposed to take you straight to jail for wreckless endangerment or something like that. I think he realized I wasn't trying to start any trouble and that I was having issues that night or something because he said that he was just going to let me go with a ticket for speeding. That was the most expensive traffic violation I had ever gotten. It was like 350 or somewhere around there. It was also about 16 years ago so things may or may not be different now.

No fun lol. I've never been caught. Curfew is the only thing the cops have gotten me for. Such a bullshit law

I've heard multiple stories of the LEO writing out a ticket for 99 or high 90's if they're feeling charitable and you weren't being wreckless. That said, I have experience that a ticket in the mid 80's is more expensive than a road course weekend at a race track, or a weekend at a standing mile event... and you come away with the smug feeling of know you have actually pushed the limits of your car.

spent 14 hrs in jail and got a year probation and had almost 4k in fines and lawyer fees. Don't do it....DON'T DO IT!!!! It was a last minute choice that I never should have made, should have just stayed my happy ass home that night.
This was waaayyy before i ever became a leo tho. I was still in HS. Now everyone that sees me is shocked. I always get the same...YOU BECAME A COP?!?! Now when i stop someone, I take the situation into consideration and then hand them my pen and tell them press hard, there's 4 copies. We all make mistakes and i give out warnings at about the same rate as i give out citations. |

i was in BC, Canada. While passing a semi I was doing 142 km/h (92 mph roughly) and the speed limit was 100 kmph ( 60 mph ) . I got pulled over by undercover rcmp using a radar. Got camaro impounded for 7 days. Fined for $380 plus $650 towing fees , $85 for a cab to drive me from infraction spot to next town, because they take away your car right on the spot. Storage fees of $ 475. I wanted to use my own AAA service to avoid the fee and the cops didnt let me. $ I had to pay$200 to a friend of mine so he could come and pick me and my girlfriend up. There was no bus nor airport nor rental car companies around in the little town i got stucked up (fernie, bc) . Insurance went up 30%. Gladly i didnt get any demerit points since my license was from another province. In BC seems that you are guilty until proven innocent. One of worst days in my life. Lesson learned.

I don't think you get a ticket for that. Pretty sure you go straight to jail.

Several years ago I got caught going 120mph+ in my modded 1999 Suburban while driving from Colorado to Texas. It was 2am & no cars in sight except for 1 coming towards me which of coarse was the cop.
I just pulled over, windows down, lights on & paperwork ready then waited for him to show. I had Oregon driver's licence, Colorado plates, Texas insurance & got pulled over in Nowheresville New Mexico. All I got was a warning for possible stray cattle that would explode upon impact at the speed I was going.

GA has a Super Speeder law for doing 25 mph over the posted limit. So you can get nailed for doing way less than 100 on a lonely country road. And the fines are enormous. No thanks.
