Camaro Ingress and Egress
All you Camaro junkies who have actually sat in or drove a 5th Gen, say at Indy:
Compare getting in and out of the vehicle to the Corvette. The taller the better. My back is shot, and I have a lot of pain getting in and out of the wonderfully low to the ground Corvette. How much easier is it getting in and out of the new Camaro? Thanks

I've only sat in the silver Concept.
I've also sat in my brother's C6. The Concept was much easier to get in and out of IMO. |

Honestly for me it isn't that different. But I'm 5'9" 165 lbs. I don't know how much my opinion matters. Cause I just slip right into any vehicle, don't really notice any hardships when i'm getting into a car. Except the sky/solstice. Those cars lacking in the department of shoulder room. I think the camaro will be a inch or so higher, so that might help some.
I will ask my freind, and he will be able to give me a definite answer. He was with me in Indy and for the auto show, and God knows I made him sit in the corvette and the camaro. He's 6'5" and I'm quite certain he might have a good answer for ya. I really tried to get the guy at the Indy auto show to let me sit in it, but he wouldn't budge. Then I would have a much more recent reference to give you. |

The answer will depend on your physical limitations and how the car(s) are configured.
My Corvette has the Memory along with the Easy In/Out feature. So unless you can actually check out both cars for yourself I can tell you (from someone with a bad back courtesy of my time spent in Viet Nam) that I can get/in out of my C6 very comfortably using the Easy In/Out feature. I suggest a visit to your local Chevy dealer to check out a Corvette. Checking out a Camaro for yourself is going to be difficult right now. |

Wow, that 6'5" friends input will be great. And we are now even for me having more sunshine, and you being young and agile. I am old and busted, as Will Smith described Tommy Lee Jones in MIB. |

Part of me is thinking of removing the targa top, and hoisting myself down into the car. |

This was my biggest concern about my preorder. I haven't owned a car since 1988. I as able to sit in Number3's car today, it felt a little higher than a vette, and I had to get in with the door not fully open, but I was happy with the outcome. Of course the best bet is to wait until you can sit in one yourself.

You know, if you garage it, I think someone makes a little hoist that could lift that for you. Nice to not feel alone here, with all the young whippersnappers.

My back isn't an issue getting out of either car. I find it's the closeness of the Vette to the ground relative to the Camaro which makes the difference. I'm not "young whipper-snapper" myself, but somedays I feel older than I am, and the Camaro just seems a little easier to haul my butt out of. |

Camaro seems easier to haul your butt out of it? That's exactly what I need. Honestly, in the Vette, I have to put the seat all the way back, recline it fully (not recommended by GM, because of seat belt submarine issues). And then my head almost hits the targa bar, if someone rear-ended me, my head is not going to slam the headrest as intended, it's going to slam the targa bar. I just love Corvettes, but it looks like it may go bye-bye, and Camaro SS/RS will be saying: Helllooo!

I've driven a lot of C5/C6s and just completed a trip from Michigan to California and back with 2 1,000 mile plus days in the new Camaro and Ican assure that the Camaro has more adjustment and comfort and ease of entry/egress than than the vette. It's still a low seating position as you would expect in a performance car, so don't think it's "easy", but the Camaro offers more comfort all around.

For anyone who has seen it. Does the camaro have a horrible blindspot in the left and right back panels. Becuase from the outside it looks like their is a really bad one.
