2017/2018 ZL1. Removing back 2 cats
Has anyone kept the stock exhaust but eliminated the back 2 cats? Is the sound increase worth it?

"Secondary cat delete" and yes. Pretty common. My buddy did it to his '17 ZL1 and I wouldn't say it increased much of anything, perhaps a little bark on startup and a little more rasp/volume everywhere else. I'd go for a full Cat-back or Axle-back + Borla 60606 X-Pipe if you want a full system, personally.

Installed the Borla 60606 this morning. Mated it to the OEM exhaust manifolds and OEM suitcase muffler.
Exhaust note is definitely a lot deeper/throatier and a little louder. Overall, very happy with it! |

Does it have any of that world famous Borla drone? My 2010 SS would drive you nuts around 1800-2000 rpm.

Drone is usually going to be made or stopped in the muffler. He installed only an X pipe. The stock mufflers may be more drone prone than a Corsa system but likely zero drone even with 60606 + NPP. I’m going to be doing 60606 + Corsa Xtreme and will report when I do.

No drone whatsoever but you can tell the secondary cats have been removed (take that for what it's worth).
It was essentially bolt up but I did have to cut the OEM pipes forward of the OEM suitcase. Others reported having to spread the 60606 at the ends to mate with the OEM pipe width coming out of the suitcase. I didn't have to do any of that. Inside to inside of the stock pipes was 29cm the 60606 was 28.5. These butt end clamps made the install a breeze: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vpe-1176/overview/ |

The 60606 bolts to the primary cats but you must cut and clamp the rear just before the muffler. It also lines right up with the Corsa axle backs.

Does the borla 60606 throw a code? Anyone have any experience with the Kooks high flow cat and if that throws a code? Do both of these just bolt on to the stock primary cat?
I'd rather get rid of both stock cats and have a single high flow cat. I'm looking for something that won't throw a code and will add noticeable volume. |
