I'm reasonably sure that DiGiam's experience with the 1-2 shifts is not tied to the A8 shudder matter, but to the TCM retune that was done at the same time his TC was replaced. Inquiring about the 7-8 is only an effort to narrow down the reasons for his new 1-2 issue, which might indicate what sort of further fix should be considered.

Mine only shuddered when fully warm, 70-75 mph, a slight positive grade with rpm ~1700. Tap the paddle for a down shift and it went away until the system took it back to 8th.

Under hard load it was fine. Shifts were/are great. I suspect the shudder is cause by dropping to four cylinder and then hitting grade that put it on the edge of needing to change to eight cylinders.

Overall, I like the transmission. The 3 to 4 upshift is a fantastic kick in the ass. I know exactly how to tap the accelerator to activate performance shift mode, etc.

I’m troubled to see owners to 2015 and older trucks and Corvettes with this issue and now 2016 and 2017 Camaro. That’s not a “bad batch of parts”.

My TC was replace 4K miles ago and it’s perfect now. Has the problem actually been identified and fixed?

Red face 2016 2ss NPP A8 YELLOW

Hi everyone I purchased my car April 15, 2016, it seems to always hesitate or shutter between 40 to 65. I thought this was in the norm so ignored it. I started seeing on this forum other people having the same problem. So I complained to the dealer they said it was the norm. Later I called for support from Chevrolet. I was at the dealer and support tech was on my phone so I handed it to the service manager, It seem they changed their mind to check it out. It was determined that I had the shutter between 40 and 60. They changed the lines, that didn't work, then they did the 3 flushes and programing which fixed the issue. So hope it does not come back its been 8 months since then and runs great.

I know it's unrelated transmissions so I hope your fix did the trick, but after the first of new clutches in my Focus DCT it was all perfect for about 10K miles then the issues started coming back.

Isn't this the "Ask Al" Column and all pertinent forum rules apply??

Odds are good that if you have an issue with your car, and you or your dealer/mechanic can’t figure it out: someone here has. Also, please remember that Al has been on the Camaro program since Gen 5; questions specific to Gen 4 and earlier may be something he wouldn’t be able to answer.

I've been in the market for a 2018 A8 Camaro SS lately but now I'm concerned about all of the things I'm reading regarding the transmission. Are the issues wide spread enough that I should seriously reconsider that purchase?

I may be wrong, but I think the 2018's have the new 10 speed tranny?

Nope, only the ZL1 does

They pass the question around to get input from everyone. Al's been out of the "office" for a little bit, and I imagine this question might need a few more people to peek at it than the rest.

We should be getting a response soon. Looking forward to the next poll as racing season warms up!

My 17 SS A8 has this as well.. I’ll be taking it by the dealer soon for a flush, hopefully this will remedy things. I’d like to get a more permanent solution though.

I just purchased a 2017 2SS leftover 10 days ago and it has started at less than 800 miles already. Between 30 and 45 mph on slight inclines. Bringing into dealership for service on Tuesday.
