Whipple Belt tensioner adjustment?
I went to the track last saturday trying to get my first 11 second run. I got a good launch then on the 3 to 4 shift at about 3/4 track or so. I lose power. Pushed in the clutch and coasted the rest of the way to a 12.07 @ 113. I thought I blew the motor until I noticed the RPM's went back to idle. Then I tried to turn off the track and had no power steering. Just threw the belt, no biggie. Until I saw this.
Broke the tensioner. Whipple overnight me one on Monday and I put it on today. I just wanted to make sure I am adjusting it correctly. According to whipples directions they say to line up these two lines. Which was the way I had mine adjusted. I just wanted to make sure of the correct way to adjust the tensioner. Which one of the pics shows the best area to adjust the tensioner to. I just want to make sure I wasn't the reason the tensioner broke. The green area is where you want the line to be and the red is where you don't want it to be. Pic 1 This is the way Whipple says to do it. Line up the two lines. Pic 2 Pic 3 All I wanted was an 11 second run. On a good note Whipples customer service was great and they got me the tensioner ASAP.

That's the way I have mine. I had to readjust after I put a few miles on it. The lines weren't lined up anymore and I was getting belt slip.

not to bring up a thread from the dead but I just put in a blower cam for my whipple and now at idle seems that my tensioner is rattling and like its going to blow apart. if i put load on it seems to smooth out and hold. should i change to a smaller belt with my pulley change i did?

Depends what size pulley you put on. I think you only need smaller if you go 3.750 inch or smaller.

I went to 3.75 pulley. Would you happen to know the new belt size recommended . The old belt seems tight but I'm guessing something isn't right with it all clanking around now. I figured I would change to a smaller belt first like you said before anything else
