So how come CTSV brakes dont squeal all the time or corvette brakes...
or do they? Mine is even worse, its a rotational squeek that I can hear up to 70mph.... With slight adjustments to the steering wheel it comes and goes. Its ok though, cant wait to get rid of these POS OEM parts and get some proper roters, calipers, and pads. Then I may finally be rid of this squeaky GM shit and their bullshit fairytales of how all camaros brakes squeal. |

Mine have squeaked since I bouGt it with 14K miles on it. Especially at lower speeds and when it's damp out. Very embarrassing and annoying. I contacted GM Customer Service after the second trip to the dealership about the brakes and still no fix. Not even an offer to replace anything. I just got "it's normal" and "there's no tsb for the V6, only the SS." Well, I've got news for them, the V6 has the same problem! Never had this "normal" issue with my Mustang! Very disappointing. Now my car is out of warranty and STILL SQUEAKING!

The first 10K on mine the Brembos squeeked. New Hawk ceramic pads properly broken in and it's been fine ever since. A lot less dust too.
My theory is that the pads are throwing so much dust that the brakes are going to squeek when it builds up. Of course I could be totally wrong but my new pads solved the problem for good. I hope that the ZL-1 brakes don't do this when it arrives home... |

Mine have squeeked at low speed since about a wweek after I got the car. I bought it used from a Chevy Dealership it is Certified also. Took it in with a copy of the TSB and the Service Rep brought me another TSB that said the noise is normal. Also said they test drove it and did not hear anything. It had 17,000 miles on it. I have had several new vehicles with performance brakes none of them have ever sounded like this. It suxxxxxxxxxxxx. I hate to come to a stop light beside a Mustang or anything else for that matter. These cars cost to much money to have a normal squeeling coming from the brakes. I thiink I am just going to keep
harrassing the dealership to see if they will finally do something about it. |

I have owned two different 5th Gen Camaros, and I got the brake squeel from each of them. First on my 2010 2LT/RS, and now on my 2011 2SS/RS. A buddy of mine bought a 2012 2SS/RS 45th, and he has the same squeeling issue as well.
I used to work at GM's Design Center, and my friend with the 45th still does. He has been questioning engineers there about this issue. From what he was told, the squeel we all are hearing is a result of cheap brake pads with high metallic content. They suggested we get high performance ceramic pads to solve the noise issue. However, after reading this thread, it sounds like the ceramics make the noise as well. So now I'm lost. But either way, there is something seriously wrong here. This brake squeel alone is enough to make me leave GM forever and move to an OEM who pays attention to such quality issues. BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc etc....

I have Carbotech XP10/XP8 on mine. They make a sound like a singing crystal glass mixed with nails on a chalkboard... They are definitely not cheap.

Pete from Pedders will tell you, the better your brake pads are the more noise they make.

Well, just over 3k miles on my 2012 SS.. no brake squeal at all (knocking on wood). My 2011 SS had brake squeal, but not my 2012.
