What turns me off about the v6 is the 1.5 miles of timing crap in them.
I won't dispute that DOHC flow really well or that the v6 is a decent engine for what it is, but on the track it's all up in the air and I'd rather not have all that timing chain flopping around in the breeze. It's a total liability.

Hell, I dont even like timing chains at all! I like connecting my cam to my crank with gears. And all that "harmonics" crap is BULL!!!!

Thanks for listening.

I run catless (with no excessive smoke or smell - good tune).

Kooks (by phone) told me they do see a few RWHP increase going catless.

A bonus is - going catless saves weight and improves exhaust tone.

But saying that, the performance difference doesn't amount to too much.

I agree!

I'd rather have gears, no chains or belts!

Solid! Install it, set the gear lash with a piece of newspaper, and beat the piss out of it without ever worrying.

I had one milodon geardrive last through 3 brutal engines until I decided it was time to hang it in the garage. But to run one on these cars you have the knock sensors to contend with. But this can be alleviated.

I use them on my mopars.

Typical blanket statement.
This was 3 years ago.

Minus Porsche and the Nissan GT-R

you can't name 15 cars that off the lot come with a twin turbo v6 that'll leave an SS in the dust.

One thing I always notice in these threads. People keep saying no cats equals rotten egg smell. That doesn't make sense. Now if you have ever had a car where the cats got old and clogged, that is a rotten egg smell. Maybe people just getting confused.

He ^^^ makes a good point. Why do you think 60s muscle cars which only have mufflers don't smell !
