That's not necessarily a good thing. By moving the IAT sensor to the box, you're not fueling the proper IAT for the air entering the engine. Does it really matter what the IAT reading is if it's not being accurately accounted for by the PCM?

OP. You don't NEED a CAI at all. However, they CAN provide a very good cost/benefit ratio. The better CAI's will net you in the 12-15whp range. If you take a cost of $350-400, that comes to $23-33/HP which is a good ratio.

I think K&N sell some today just with their name.

I think Cold Air Inductions got the best name for what they sell haha

Used to be a big K&N user, but I had two filters that fell apart when I was cleaning them. Yes I was using K&N cleaning solution and using gently running water. After that I quit using their products and moved to stock filters.

Then when I got my camaro I bought COld air inductions because of the power gains and like most say, you get what you pay for. I'm a strong believer in that.

I don't see where I'm getting any extra air coming in that would justify needing that setup. Can anyone please explain to me why I need it other than "New cars just need it" or "It is needed with headers because u need the extra air coming in because of the exhaust going out." All input will be greatly appreciated.
If you cant see the difference in the maze the air has to go through and the restrictive pipe they put on the car stock then you need new glasses before you get a CAI.

The stock tube is designed for quietness not performance.
if you want the car to breath you need a CAI flat out.
a lame K&N filter in the stock setup will do nothing at all.

a GOOD CAI is an absolute 15-20hp no BS. this is not snake oil.

There are neutral studies posted here that show the gains No BS.
The car drives completely different with more power across the entire band after the change.

I also noticed the throttle response is damn near instant. My tune helps, but I think once I get my longtubes I will notice a huge change

David any credibility you ever had just went out the window..
CAI INC, Rotofab and Vanaram are the only names even worth mentioning in Camaro Cold Airs.
ALL produce consistently high numbers and do what they are designed to do.

Whenever you are ready to bring your "beast" to hang with real cars we will be sure to show you.

Tired of your constant Cheerleading and down talking of everything but your dealer and it's partners.

+1 after doing this the car inhales like a tornado under heavy acceleration.
and the scoop is high quality metal not flimsy.

if 300 bucks for 15HP scares you then you better just hand the keys back to the dealer.
this is the cheapest HP to be had on the Camaro flat out.

and it is a key piece to the puzzle in the end.
you cant make power if you arent getting air into that engine.

+1 or just leave it stock and don't mod at all everything else that you add to it will definitely benefit from a cai no matter who makes it whether its Vararam, cai, rotofab, etc. Its a supporting mod you will NEED it if can+heads hence abbreviation h/c/I.

The way I read the OP's post was that he has the K&N OEM replacement filter. That filter, however well it may or may not flow, shows ZERO HP gains over the OEM filter. That isn't a reflection of the filter but the restrictive airbox it's inside of. Yes many companies use the K&N cone filter but they gain HP by building a better intake system, not just a better filter. For the record, the S&B filter that came with my Halltech Yellowjacket is considerably better than the K&N cone filter.

Now if you want to say the K&N OEM replacement filter is the best bang for your buck, then you're completely WRONG.

15-20HP for $350 is the best ratio you're going to get, pair it with Long tubes and they are the most HP per $ mods.
