I wouldn't worry about the springs as much as those AFM lifters. They suck and are NOT reliable in a stock setup, imagine in even a lil more performance setup?

OP you are asking for lots of trouble if you keep those setups. Save and do it once and do it right or you'll be paying twice. Just my .2

OP is kind of similar to what I am thinking. Mostly I want anything in my engine that has to do with AFM removed. So I plan on doing an LS3 conversion one of these first days. I really don't need a cam for more power, Im good with the power and speed of my car now. But if I am going to do an LS3 conversion it does not make much sense to keep the stock cam, right? The thing with me is that whenever I do an upgrade on my car, whatever it may be. I want the upgrade to be better, stronger, longer lasting and I do not want to have to do anymore maintenance as in checking valve springs every so many miles. So if upgrading my car means more maintenance or less reliability, then I will leave it alone. So to me Im thinking an LS3 conversion will increase my engines reliability and be stronger, better and all that stuff. But what about the cam?

Depends on what cam he goes with. The TSP AFM/VVT cams are designed with smaller lobes to be AFM lifter friendly. Although if it was my car those AFM lifters would be gone.
