Moving on, I'll miss the ZL1.
Well folks, after a lot of back and forth I ended up selling my ZL1 and getting a ZR1 Corvette. This is a pic of my new ride. The ZL1 was a great car. Fast, comfortable, nimble for a heavy car. I just couldn't pass up what was my dream car when it came out. For those that are wondering, yes, I would love to own a C7 Z06, but just can't pay $100k+. After driving the ZR1 for a couple of weeks though, I don't necessarily think it's an "alternative" car, this thing is a true wicked beast. Unbelievably fast. Anyhow, I've enjoyed spending time on the forums with all of you. Great people and great information. I do think the ZL1 is underrated as both a DD and a back roads sports car. Take care and keep enjoying your beasts!

It's a 2009, 3ZR, 16000 miles. Paid $62k, which is probably high for a 2009, but it's the most immaculate used car I've ever seen. The guy who owned it was obsessive about keeping it perfect. Literally would drive it, wipe it down, put a cover on it and keep it in the garage. Never tracked or taken to the strip. I couldn't find a single scratch, mark, etc. on the entire car and believe me I tried. Perfect inside and out, you can eat off the engine. What is interesting, and I honestly don't know if this is just coincidence, is if you look at all the fastest 1/4 mile times set by the ZR1 on their forums, the top 6 are all 2009s. 2010 brought full PTM and Launch Control, which you would think would make them quicker, but the times don't support that. 2012 and 13' models have two more catalytic converters and a different steering wheel. Otherwise a 2009 ZR1 is essentially the same as a 2013. The best time bone stock with stock tires is 10.6 at 130+ mph (of course every car will have their hero runs but that time beats the best manual C7 Z06 time, the best C7 Z06 Auto time is 10.4). The car is unbelievably fast. Around a race track obviously a C7 Z06 will leave a ZR1 in the dust, but straight line acceleration is very close (ZR1 weighs 3300 lbs with 638hp, C7 Z06 weighs 3500 lbs with 650hp). I was looking for 2010 or newer and found a couple that I looked at, but this was by far the most perfect one. Very rare combo with the black wheels. They were originally chrome, but he had them powder coated black. The ZL1 is awesome, but this truly feels like a rare, special car.

I was about to say something about paying 60k+ for a 09 car but then I read up on the ZR1... it's no joke.
Carbon fiber is used on the roof, hood, fenders, front splitter, and rocker moldings; the hood and fenders are painted over, while the roof and splitter are merely covered in a clear-coat, retaining their black color. A polycarbonate window is placed in the center of the hood, allowing the engine intercooler to be seen from the exterior. The wheels are the largest ever placed on a production Corvette, with both front and rear wheels increasing in size and diameter over the Corvette Z06. Carbon-ceramic brakes are included. The brake calipers are painted blue, as are the engine intercooler trim and the ZR1 logo. Magnetic Selective Ride Control is also included on the car, with sensors to automatically adjust stiffness levels based on road conditions and vehicle movement. GM confirmed a supercharged 6.2 L LS9 V8 producing 638 hp (476 kW). The ZR1 is capable of reaching a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h);[17] because of its added downforce it can't surpass the 216 mph (348 km/h) speed of the less powerful Z06.

Nice upgrade, and you certainly don't see ZR1's every day. Enjoy the new ride!

That is a beautiful car, you cant go wrong with a ZR1 for sure.
But not all C7 Z06's are 100k. You can find them new in the low 70's. I paid around 74k for mine. Congrats on the new ride....

I was looking at one as well; it was on the same lot I bought my ZL1 at.
I have two small kids, so I need 4 seats.
