Dealer's offer for my Camaro

So I most likely need to sell the Camaro because I'll be commuting 50 miles one way. It's a 2014 2SS/RS M6. Does have K&N CAI and headers but didn't bring that up. Also custom wheels. They are offering $26k (initially 25.5 ) for the trade for a Honda Accord which lists at $31.9k. They knocked the Accord down to $29.4k. Now I do have time to sell on my own because I don't move for a few months. Anyone think this deal is worth taking now or think I can get more? Obviously their is a tax benefit for the trade versus private party.

Yeah I know but suggestions for a 100 mile/day commute? Gets 37mpg which is slightly better than the Camaro haha. Sorry but the Malibu doesn't come close to the Accord.

no petrol car i have ever owned or driven is any good at mpg..
you need one of these special diesel cars dude...
we have a low emission diesel hyundai that does 50mpg at a push. alll the petrol cars i've owned have never got better than 30mpg..
unless you buy one of these special diesels you wont saving much on that commute.
i have driven over 2000 000 miles btw in many different cars..

Can't you just get a cheap civic and keep your Camaro?

You can ALWAYS get more money selling it privately, however it can be a hassle.

50 weeks at 500 miles a week is 25000 annual miles. Camaro SS on the highway should get at least 24 mpg, Honda gets 37......assuming $2 a gallon, the Camaro costs around $2100 in fuel, the Honda $1350 ($750 less)

So to save $750 a year in gas you're going to spend $3400 right now (26 K for Camaro trade, 29.4 for Honda)......you're going to be losing money for the next 5 years by buying a more fuel efficient car.

37 mpg will be only a claim..that will be a blueprinted car on level ground with a lightweight driver..
claimed mpg and real mpg are light years apart..my hyundai is 64mpg claimed..never got it better than 50 mpg..

True words. Plus wouldn't you rather spend the extra time driving a Camaro than an Accord?

Thank you for this. Someone understands that selling a car for a more fuel efficient car strictly to "save gas money" is not a cost effective solution. The real solution is buy a cheap car or motorcycle. Spend the 3,000-5,000 up front and keep the Camaro aka your balls LOL

Keep the Cam

Personally if I had a commute that far I would rather drive a car I enjoy. The amount in savings offset by driving the more economical car wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd find a way to cut other costs if I needed to first like cable (which I have already done and don't miss) or going out to dinner once a month or whatever.

Could not have summed it up any better....

Maybe find another dealer with a Accord on the lot used, and see what they give you for it there.

Yeah, Everyone makes the mistake of thinking that because their gas cost goes down by $10 a week that its worth spending more for fuel efficient car. If you want this to actually make sense go buy what I did. 2016 Cruze M6 gets 35-37mpg average on highway. 400 miles per tank and costs about $24 to fill the tank. Car costs $18K-19k and is still a chevy.
