Norm,

Again, it was a pleasure to have you along for my first time on track. Having your knowledge of the track and expert pointers on the "line" sure made it enjoyable for me.

Reading your opinion of the Z stands out, and you have a very valid point comparing it to a modified SS. I would think that anyone who is willing to modify their SS and can live with a stiffer chassis, will find the Z/28 to be an enjoyable vehicle.

THANK YOU!!!! people act like these parts are custom only last 5000 miles before you need a new car items. While they can get pricey you can expect brakes to last on average the 100,000 miles (per gm) shocks are the same around 50,000 miles and honestly if you're driving on the street more than the track get a good set of nitto tires around 1000-1200 dollars you'll be fine. People lose their damn mind when you put a specialty tag on a car I.e. Z/28, zr1, z06. If you have the funds just do it it is an amazing car that will last a long time and while it is just a camaro with extra things it is an amazing machine which I would love to have.

On the street you have to remeber something. Brakes are only needed when actually stopping. When approaching a corner you typically use the skinny pedal on the right. That's at least 70% longer life right there.

Like it's been addressed those expensive carbon ceramic brakes last a very long time and can possibly outlast the car itself.

Jeez all this talk sure does make the Z28 sound like THE Camaro to own after it's all said and done.

The general frame of mind here on these forums is "Z28 if you're going to track it, ZL1 for Daily Driver."

Apparently that couldn't be farther from the truth.

I'd love a Z, I'd just have to make sure mine had the radio and AC

The LS7 undoubtedly pulls like a monster, if I could afford it I'd definitely go for it

Norm
This this this this!

My car isn't the most well equipped, and nor does it have the smoothest ride. However, it does wash the work day woes away when I fire it up and one WOT run getting onto the interstate always makes my day till I get home.

I could live with the lack of comfort features with the Z if it meant I could drive something almost everyday with a 7 liter small block that revs to the moon and back

Either one is good for daily duty.

Go Z28 if you want to turn; ZL1 if you want to run 1/4 miles with a bullet proof drive train.
