Depending on the trailer and truck you could end up with more chips than driving it. You can try taping it with painters tape just remember start at the top of the area you're going to tape then overlap on the way down. I enjoy driving my car which is why I bought it. The only issue with not trailering it is if something bad happens at the track and you can't drive it home (rarely happens) you'll be in a pinch to get it home.

Short of lease restrictions fearing putting miles on your car is pointless in my opinion. If you bought it as an investment the money would have been better spent elsewhere. There's a crude saying about not putting miles on a car but I don't know how well is go over here so I won't post it.

I was speaking of the "track car title", as in 1LE's were made to be roughed up. I didn't think they were made for long trips to be honest. But hey i'm glad I got to hear from the lot of you.

Everyone, fudge it i'll just get a car bra for my trip and take the thing off when I arrive I really want to enjoy the trip but man...honest to god, as an Arizonian; I really dislike the state of California. But that's a post for another day gotta visit all of my family who still lives there.

What I do want to know is, how can I really keep my car from being stolen without paying extra cash for an aftermarket alarm?

Amen brother, as another AZ guy, I also despise the state of California. (Don't cry, Californians, I don't mean so much the individual people, but the state as a whole)

If you use a car bra, make sure you install it properly so that the wind doesn't make the bra flap or shift in the wind, leaving scuffs and scratches in your paint. Car bras can sometimes do more harm than good, so don't skimp on the price or materials, and you should be good.

Thanks for the good advice! I'll be sure to get the right bra.

Drive your car!! I drove my Z/28 from Texas to NJ in October 2014. With Trofeo tires, no issues at all. It was an amazing trip and really worth the "miles". You might be less dollars invested by driving the car, tearing up the track, buying new tires while there, then driving back.

Look into the 3M clear bra spray. It can be peeled off.

First, I would highly recommend driving the car. It's what they are built for, and it's a drive you would enjoy. Take the back roads, and just enjoy the twists & turns of the road.

If, however, you really want a garage queen...get a truck. I'm getting my Corvette delivered from Virginia today via truck (My first attempt to get a Vette across country during winter failed). It's costing me about 1800 bucks to get it from there to Seattle in a truck that's covered.

Miles and wear and tear are not a good reason for trailering, especially since you have to rent the truck as well. If you had said worried about mechanical breakdown it might be a good reason.

One day at the track is WAAAAYYYY harder on the car than the cruize from AZ up there.

Plus you'll miss all the fun along the way. Drive them. You can't take them with you die.

I own a ZL1 and I'm planning to drive mine from Oregon to Southern California this spring it's about 1000 miles each way. I'm going to enjoy every single mile.

I have to say, I am a little bit surprised at how many people disagree with me wanting to take it safely. But I'm really glad u all do, I'll drive the living heck out of the thing and love it. 15k miles in almost 2 years so it definitely needs to be driven more.
