I'm thinking if it was just a Z06 with the fixes in place they wouldn't bother hiding it, but maybe they are cuz it's going to have different lines.
It seems like it will be a new hood and a new fascia, so that's why they have it camo'd.

A TT GT500 would be awesome. I've always loved that car. They already have the Super Snake making 750 - 800, wouldn't be a stretch for Ford to do it if they wanted, especially with turbos. However, they'd need to really focus on putting the power down unless they just want the Most Horsepower award back. Will be interesting for sure, but hope the price doesn't go crazy. My buddy bought a GT350R and paid $15K over sticker to get it and had a hard time find it to begin with.

Based on things I've read the GT500 didn't stop as well as the ZL1. It's not always about being the most powerful. If that were the case the GT500 would have to have the looks of the ZL1 , the power of the Hellcat and the cornering of the 350r. Even then I'm not sure I'd buy it. There is no such thing as the best car. It's based on the buyer. That's why they sell the Eco boost. Someone thinks that's bad ass!

Not me though....

A stock Camaro ZL1 is quicker.

That's random. Quicker than what? The as yet to be seen TT GT500 or the as yet to be released Gen6 ZL1??

We've already established in another thread that the Gen5 ZL1 was.....underwhelming.

This prototype looks like a GT350 on steroids.

Ford may have brought back the GT350 moniker, but as these spy photos reveal, the automaker may not have killed off all plans for an even higher-end GT500. Through the camouflage, we can see the car looks even more aggressive than the Ford Shelby GT350 and GT350R, pointing towards a muscle car that's faster and even more powerful.

The camouflage is heaviest at the front, where the prototype appears to have a much more aggressive front end than Ford's current track-oriented Mustangs. The hood is larger, while the air intakes have also grown in size. At the back, there's a massive wing that dwarfs the one found on the GT350R.

The prototype is riding on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, which is a step above the GT350's Michelin Pilot Super Sports and just below the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber on the GT350R. The brakes come courtesy of Brembo and utilize cross-drilled rotors.

While the Mustang tried to dodge our photographers' cameras by weaving through traffic, they managed to spot a sticker on the windshield that reads "TT-0081." The same "TT" designation was spotted on Ford SVT Raptor pickup prototypes and could be indicative of a turbocharged engine. With rumors indicating that the next GT500 should put out between 750 and 800 horsepower, a turbocharged engine would help Ford take the battle to the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Let's hope that's what we're looking at here.

I know last year at the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh, WI at the Ford booth, they had a GT350R locked up, but there was a dash plaque on the passengers side that stated PP011. I thought I saw the GT350 and GT350R they had there this year started with a TT.....

A TT v6 wouldn't do anything for me, a V8 might, but still like my instant power. Turbos are nice, but even with a bit of loss a SC takes - I prefer it.

Now, I highly doubt it will be AWD, but some have speculated this, that for sure would make it a non starter for me.

The GT350 and R look really nice so i'm sure the 500 will be even better looking.

When it came out it was barely (.1) faster than Boss 302 to 60 MPH and that was only "sometimes" depending on the day and the driver The 2012 GT500 ran as fast or faster in the 1/4, so not sure where you got your data. 580HP sounded good, but it just didn't work out in the real world. It's a 12 second car, so not really worth debating anymore to me.

I'm real curious how the 10 speed in the ZL1 helps it. Ford hasn't ever offered an auto GT500. They should.

When can we debate ZL1 vs. another car that can do more than 1320 straight lines?
A car that can only be good at 1320's isn't really worth debating at all IMO.

That's the world I live in. I know very few that will take their brand new $70,000 car to a road course and risk wadding it up and pay $150 a track day to do it. A LOT will spend $10 to go down a 1/4 mile at TNT though I've had this same debate a few times with folks on this forum. The guys I know that road race all bought BMW beaters and have a ball for $10K.

I understand road course times are what Camaro fans have to focus on these days though. The new ZL1 should help that. I figure it's an easy 10 sec 1/4 mile car bone stock.
