My cars sticker was 42K new. I bought it in January of this year for 19K. Someone else absorbed 23K of depreciation

$32,999 for my LT Vert in 2013, 2 yrs later and 10,000 miles, I paid 27,998. On top of the 32,999 the original owner paid 1400.00 for custom Katzkin leather, so 34,499 out the door for owner number one. So 6,499 in depreciation for the 1st 2 years. So today on KBB.com shows 17,200, so 10,798 in depreciation since May 2015. That's a pretty big hit, but the Camaro is priceless, Best Year of 5th Gens (last year of squircles and 1st yr infotainment system, a Camaro sweet spot). As long as I'm noticeably below the residual value of car on my loan payoff I'm good.

It's only worth less if you sell it.

I paid 39,300 Canadian for my used 2SS in 2013 with 90 miles on the clock.... Car was about 5 months old. That would be about 31400 US or so... Car listed for 49,700 Can so I saved over 10k off the list price. That was the same price I would have paid for a new 2LT so it was a no brainer.
My car would still sell for about 29k Can. around here so 10k in 5 years is easy to deal with in terms of depreciation. But cars are perhaps one of the worst places to put money into but we have the good fortune to get lots of enjoyment out of them instead of them being just a means to move about. Putting gas in my car is like going to the movies-its entertainment! |

I paid $18.9k for mine with 7 miles on it, brand new, back in '15. With some of the upgrades I've added since then, I'm sure I could get at least that much for it today.

I have a 2014 Ashen Gray metallic convertible. Really don't care what anyone else thinks it's worth, I know what it it's worth to me and I don't plan on selling her for a whole bunch of years. I have a 96 Impala SS that still has under 10K on the clock. Sold new for just about 22K; Decided to sell the girl after all these years, a gentleman out of Wilmington is the buyer at 24K. Granted over the years I sank more money that I care to remember, it's an addiction. She gave me a lot of enjoyment as well as new friends.
The Camaro is her replacement and probably my last vehicle. I am so thrilled with the Camaro. I didn't purchase her as an investment, I purchased her because I WANTED her. Larry

I bought mine the same weekend. To close the deal, I was able to get 25% discounted from the sticker price & 2% financing. It was the far limit of my budget too.
