NPP Stealth mode - added factory & wild modes

although probably not a common occurrence, i wanted to have the dual mode exhaust closed at idle. i came up with the attached fix. there are many ways to skin this cat, i chose this one because it worked for my needs and thought others could get some ideas from it.

There have been several posts looking for a method to have three NPP modes incorporated into a single switch.
Stealth – exhaust flappers closed all the time
Factory – flappers operate as per the factory parameters (more below)
Wild – flappers always open

I created a second DIY to show one way to do it

Agreed, this is so awesome but I have no electrical knowledge or comfort. Sadly I think I will stll end up dropping $200 for the ADM controller, and will only have 2 functions.

Alternate Method

Hey, I don't mean to put you down, you did a great job figuring that out and it will work perfectly that way, but there is a much simpler way to accomplish this.

You can cut the blue/yellow wire going to the rear fuse block, and wire in an on/off/on rocker switch. Here is a crude diagram of how I wired my NPP.

When you're done, the 3 positions will be flaps Closed/Open/Normal.

Okay... so my electrical experience is limited but how does this last method work? You have one wire that you interrupt. I assume you cut it then a three position switch with an extra ground... how's that make this happen?

If it works I'm all for it b/c cheap and easy. I would like to understand it more though.

UNMODIFIED: When the controller is energized it grounds the valve relay to close the exhaust.
Inferno1LE's mod: position 1 acts like factory, position 2 opens the wire so the relay stays open, position 3 connects the relay to ground.....putting the relay on all the time

Sweet & simple solution. Kinda embarrassed that I didn't think of it

Sometimes we get so involved in our original idea we forget to think of another path.

So verdict is both methods work?
